The Royal Yisraeli Special Political Police (Modern Hebrew: משטרה פוליטית ישראלית מיוחדת), also referred to as YeMep or RYSPP (colloquially), is a special political police force in Yisrael. It is an independent royal agency directly under the control of the King whose chief responsibilities are to investigate, control, and subvert political organizations whose ideologies are held to be a threat to the public order by the Government of Yisrael. Its duties combine criminal investigations and counterespionage under one agency; it is considered a jurisdictional rival to the Royal Yisraeli Security Service.

It has been accused of being a secret police force by critics on both the political left and right as well as purported victims of its investigations and security actions. Its main targets publicly are the home-grown Christian terrorists, political extremists, social radicals, and other subversives; privately, some believe it is a tool of suppression for enemies of the monarchy, the state, and its religious-based constitutional order. Despite this criticism from some corners, the agency has consistently polled fairly well and remains fairly popular, with the general public attentive to, and supportive of, its anti-corruption successes and putting away of social radicals.

In mid-2020, there were persistent rumors of a YeMep assassin hit squad operating in Gran Aligonia, leading to conspiracy theories on the Internet by critics of the Crown. In turn, the agency has received a boost in support by far right and hawkish circles who view these rumors, if true, as a sign of strength rather than something undesirable.

Role and mandate

The RYSPP has a litany of political crime-specific law enforcement duties, including but not limited to:

  • Investigating, infiltrating, and destroying subversive political groups;
  • Controlling the spread, influence, and power of anti-constitutional ideologies;
  • Monitoring and censoring communications of subversive ideologies, groups, and individuals; and
  • Cooperating with related sister organizations to fight public corruption, political extremism, and other political crimes by public officers.

The YeMep answers solely to the King, whose office relays cases to the Royal Yisraeli Special Court on Political Crimes and Corruption for prosecution.

After the enthronement of King Hezekiah III, the new monarch quickly sacked his father's chief inspector, Osher Eisenberg, and installed his youngest brother, Prince Yehuda, the 24-year-old former "black sheep" of the Royal Family, in his place. The move immediately raised scoffs of nepotism and fears of an anti-royalist crackdown. The YeMep began involving themselves in riot and anti-protestor control, raising eyebrows; however, there were no mass arrests or other unusual activity by the royal security service.

Since spring 2020, there have been persistent rumors of a YeMep hit squad operating against Crown critics residing in the GA, a prominent geopolitical battleground between an emerging global ideological conflict between the Western Monarchies and their opponents.

The YeMep has cooperated in joint task forces with their jurisdictional rival, the Shomrim, to hunt down and arrest members of the new domestic terrorist group the Liberal Democratic Front of Yisrael that has emerged since March 2020.

On the six-month anniversary of the coronation of Hezekiah III, the Royal Yerushalayim Dispatch ran a headline article that, in part, focused on strident fears by the political left that the YeMep would be used against them, although the article concluded that "there was no evidence that the King would [do so] or even threatened to do so."

Organization

  • Special Activities Section: The division for undercover officers assigned to various cases across the sections. Yemepim located here generally are under official covers and have their real identities classified for the duration of their undercover duties.
