His Majesty's Board of Information is the branch of the Government of Great Nortend which controls the dissemination of information outside of an educational framework, which is controlled by the Board of Education. It is a board of the Privy Council; however, in practice it generally reports to the King's Clerk.
The Board is responsible for diverse matters as the licensing of films and plays, publication and dissemination of official press releases and information and other government publishing, propaganda and media regulation. It is also responsible for liasing with the Royal Libraries and the Compagnie of Stationers in relation to copyright and record deposit.
Departments
The Board has four main departments, which are tasked with its various duties. These are —
- Department of Broadcasting (regulates cinemas, the Royal Broadcasting Office and other private broadcasters)
- Department of Censors (censors publically shewn films, plays, posters and books)
- Department of Propaganda (produces propaganda films, plays, posters and books and official Crown informative communications)
- Department of Publishing (regulates private publishers, newspapers, magazines, and journalists and liases with copyright and deposit authorities)
