Dr. Iaukea was elected APHO Director-General for a five-year term by APHO Member-States at the Aeia Public Health Assembly in  2018. She is the first Director-General to be elected from the Savaian region.

Immediately after taking office in January 2018 Dr. Iaukea outlined key priorities from the organization; health emergencies; women's, children's, and adolescence health, health impacts of environmental change; and a global APHO.

Prior to this election as an APHO Director-General, Dr. Iaukea served as the Ajerri Minister of Health over two royal administrations, from 2012-2018. In this role she led a comprehensive reform of the country's health system. All roads lead to universal health coverage, and she has demonstrated what it takes to expand health care with limited resources.

The transformation she has led as Ajerri's Minister of Health improved access for millions of people. Under her leadership, Ajerrin invested in critical health infrastructure with multiple public-private partnerships, expanded its workforce, and developed innovative health financing mechanisms.
Beyond Ajerrin, Dr. Iaukea's regional leadership on material health and blood-born diseases like malaria and HIV has been immensely impact. She was elected the Chair of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in 2009, and previously served as the Chair of the Partnership for Material, Newborn, and Child Health Board.
Born in Lahui, Dr. Iaukea holds a Doctorate of Medicine from the Royal University of Ajerrin and a Master of Science in Immunology of Infectious Diseases from Pahina School of Science in Lahui. Dr. Iaukea is globally recognized as a health scholar, researcher, and diplomat with first-hand experience in research, operations, and leadership in emergency responses to epidemics.
Throughout her career, Dr. Iaukea has published numerous articles in prominent scientific journals and received awards and recognition from across the global. She received the Queen's Humanitarian Award in recognition of her contributions to the field in public health in 2017, and the Decoration of the Royal Order of Science in 2016.

The Global Relief Mission (GRM), also known by its Midrasian initialism of MGA), is an international humanitarian organisation based in Berghelling, Midrasia. The organisation was founded in 1901 in the aftermath of the Great War in Midrasia and was originally an Alydian charitable organisation providing aid to civilians in disaster and conflict zones.

The role of the GRM has expanded as it continues to grow and include new members, and it now provides neutral aid to military forces and also to displaced peoples, and more recently has served as an impartial mediator between warring groups. Its original emphasis on proselytism has also been greatly deëmphasised as the organisation has spread. and serves as an third party honest broker between factions that are involved in conflict. Since its founding it has also aided in the drafting of international humanitarian law

Although founded as an Alydian organisation, the GRM today functions as a secular organisation and is affiliated to organisations operating mainly or exclusively in countries of diverse religious demographics. At the Second General Congress of the GRM in 1913, the organisation's original logo, an Alydian flame, was replaced with a droplet of blood in what is often considered as the earliest step towards its secularisation.

History

The Aeian Public Health Organization was founded in the years following the Great War as a way to promote international cooperation in the new field of public health. Representatives from nations all over Aeia gathered in Lotrič, Midrasia to discuss a framework to create the organization that is today known as the Aeian Public Health Organization. The World Health Accords were signed by the first member states in June of 1910 in Lotrič. In August of the same year the Aquidish government donated land to the APHO to establish a headquarters. The first Director-General was chosen in the first meeting of the Assembly in the new headquarters in April of 1911.

The APHO has also condemned the use of child soldiers and chemical weapons in the war, saying that their use is "shameful" and "heartbreaking." The organization has repeatedly called for ceasefires to allow for aid workers and supplies to get in and for refugees to get out.

Structure

The APHO is lead by a Director-General who leads the organization in its day to day actions. The Director-General answers to the Aeian Public Health Assembly, which is made up of delegations from each of the member states, and is the supreme legislative body of the organization. The assembly generally meets once a year to discuss issues facing the world and to vote on matters before them. Delegations to the assembly often work out of member state's consulates to Aquidneck in Pale.

Membership

Membership is open to open to any nation approved by the Aeian Public Health Assembly. By agreeing to become a member the nation becomes a signatory to the World Health Accords which govern the organization and outline the nation's role and responsibilities. Members send a delegation to the Aeian Public Health Assembly in Pale, Aquidneck. This often leads to diplomatically awkward situations where delegations from governments not recognized by Aquidneck have diplomats and offices in Pale.

Regional Offices

The APHO opened regional offices in 1960 to better deal with the public health issues affecting specific regions of Aeia. Each region has a regional committee that meets to discuss issues facing the region generally once a year. Each office is lead by a regional director who picked by members of the region.

Symbols

The most notable symbol of the APHO is the red cross. The cross was adapted from the Aquidish flag with the colors changed. The white is the international symbol of peace and the red represents the medical work the organization does. The red cross has become an accepted international symbol of medicine and has been used by many governments and organizations throughout the world.

As most governments in Aeia are members of the organization it has generally been accepted that people in combat zones flying the red cross of the APHO are nuetral non-combatants and are not to be fired upon or detained. This is of course not always followed, but for the most part when in armed conflicts zones the APHO is allowed to do their work unimpeded. To aid in this all the vehicles they use have the red cross on them and so do the clothes the aid workers wear.

Controversies

Regional bias

The organization has been accused of regional bias when it came to appointments of top officials within the organization. The Director-General was always from an Asuran country until Doctor Kahee Park was elected in 1978. Even under the leadership of Dr. Park the organization's top offices continued to be dominated by Asuran nationals. In recent times this has changed to reflect the diverse membership of the organization. One of Dr. Iaukea pledges in the election to become Director-General was to increase the diversity of the organization.

Catai regional office

The decision to make the sub-region of Yidao its own regional office distinct from the Catai office came about under the leadership of Director-General Park in 1984 and was controversial at the time. Some member states thought that it would divert funds from the Catai office and be detrimental to the work being done in that region. Others thought that Yidao was culturally and geographically distinct enough to warrant its own office. Some members argued that the Savai and Yidao offices should be merged to keep the number of regional offices consistent. Director-General Park decided to stick with her decision and went ahead with the creation of the new regional office for Yidao.
