Turkmenia, also Turkmenistan, officially the Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic, is a Union Republic of the Soviet Union in Central Asia. It is bordered by Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to the north, the Caspian Sea to the west, and Iran and Afghanistan to the south.
