FC Almiaro is a professional association football club based in Almiaro, Midrasia. The club currently competes in Liga Premiére, the highest tier of Midrasian football. The club has won a number of trophies including 18 domestic league titles, 12 Super Cups, 5 Asuran Cups and one Champions cup.
Founded in 1912, Almiaro quickly became one of the most potent forces in Midrasian football, regularly challenging for league titles throughout the team's history. The team is seen as one of the two grandees of Midrasian football, along with Olympique de Lotrique, having dominated the top tier of Midrasian football for much of the modern age. Almiaro has never been relegated from the highest tier of the Midrasian league system since they joined Liga 1 back in 1921, being one of only 3 teams to do so, along with FC Mydroll and Vaelleniana.
The team's home stadium is La Colosseo (the colosseum), which holds a capacity of 87,950 making it one of the largest football stadiums in the country, and the largest outside the capital of Lotrič. The club has a considerable domestic following, mostly coming from the city of Almiaro and the surrounding province of Castana. Additionally, the club has a major international following, particularly in Ardaima, Aleramia and Ostry, owing to the club's international dominance and its acquisition of key foreign talent. The club is valued at around Đ3.2 billion, putting it in the top 5 most valuable football teams in Aeia.
Almiaro has several domestic and international rivalries, the most notable being the Rivieran derby against FC Benedormo and la Classique against Olympique de Lotrique. Internationally, Almiaro has a notable rivalry with Høulding SK from Navack.
History

FC Almiaro play their home games at La Colosseo which is one of the largest and oldest stadiums in Midrasian football. The stadium has a capacity of 87,950 making it the second-largest in the country after the newly rebuilt Stade Nationale which is used by the national team. La Colosseo is one of the few stadiums in the Midrasian top flight which is a majority open air, with three of the stands not having a roof. FC Benedormo are the only other team within Liga Premiére to have a similar setup. However, plans to refurbish the stadium are in process which will involve the construction of a new circular roof over all stands.
Initially, the team used a variety of different stadiums before La Colosseo was constructed in 1921. At the time the stadium held a capacity of 45,000 standing. The stadium expanded slowly over time until the team's successes in the 1960s saw the stadium reach its highest capacity of 100,000 standing. Ultimately this number was reduced when the stadium was turned into a fully seated arena in 1985.
The stadium has hosted a number of international matches during the Copa d'Aeia as well as a number of continental finals within the Asuran League. Most recently the stadium hosted the 2001-2002 Asuran League final which saw Internationale defeated 4-3. The stadium also has the unfortunate distinction of hosting the 1978-1979 final between Almiaro and Benedormo in which the team's local rival defeated the Vemillionor 3-1, lifting their second Asuran cup in a row and eclipsing Almiaro in their number of titles.
Badge and colours
The club's badge has always revolved around a gold and red striped design which is taken from the coat of arms and flag of the city of Almiaro. Originally for the first years of the club's existence, it utilised the city's coat of arms as its official emblem, only changing to an independent design in 1964. The current club emblem also features a crown which refers to the Doge of Almiaro and the city's heritage as a noble mercantile republic. Almiaro also has the distinction of not displaying its FFA Champions Cup title on its emblem, in contrast to Olympique de Lotrique and Royal Guardians who both display a star above their logo.
Almiaro has always utilised a gold and red colour scheme for their home jerseys which is again taken from the flag of the city of Almiaro. Usually, this design involves a striped design, though on a number of occasions hoops or a half-and-half design have been used. The gold and red shirt design has always been complemented with blue or navy shorts, whilst the socks of the home kit have usually revolved between a predominantly gold or blue design. For the majority of their history Almiaro have also used sponsorless jerseys and were one of the last clubs in the Midrasian top flight to use one. The club's first use of a sponsor on their home jersey was in the 2006-2007 season where they were sponsored by technology firm Crianza. Since then there has been a growing movement among the club's fan base to return to sponsorless jerseys.
