Tomes (abbreviated TO) is a region of Gylias. Located in the south, it borders Elena and Arsad to the north, Ḑarna to the east, and Nauras to the south.
Geography
The region's territory is largely flat, dominated by the Niavelin plain. The south-eastern end contains part of the Kackar mountains, interrupted by the Ţikona river valley.
The Ţikona river determines its boundaries with Arsad and Ḑarna.
Demographics
The 2020 census recorded a population of 1.974.876. Large cities include Iásas, Maveás, and the "twin cities" Ðoron and Kaşa.
The main Gylic peoples in the area are Tomesian, with minorities of Rezakans in the north, Aréş in the east, and Aðunese and Erlan in the south-east. There is a Hellene concentration in the north, from proximity to Nymphaion.
Economy
The region's economy is based on industry, the service sector, and agriculture.
Tourism is a major contributor to Tomes' economy. Tomes possesses some of Gylias' premier beach and surfing spots, a popular canoeing and kayaking location in the Ţikona river, and the cultural centre of Ðoron–Kaşa.
Politics
The region's regional council is named the Tomes Regional Council, and its regional party is named the Tomes Forum (French: Forum pour Tomes).
Tomes' politics are evenly balanced between the Progressive Alliance and National Bloc. The "twin cities" are notable strongholds of the non-inscrit left, with the People's Party for a Flourishing Nightlife being a major party in local politics.
