The 2019 Soviet census, officially the 2019 All-Union census (Russian: Всесоюзная перепись населения 2019), was the 10th census held in the Soviet Union and the 5th decennial census. The census reported a population of 342,592,671, which made the Soviet Union the third most populous country in the world, above the United States by 11,143,390 (according to the 2020 census in the United States).

Statistics

Around 47% of the Soviet Union's population lived in Russia, a decline from 49% in 2009. Uzbekistan recorded the highest number of new people, while Tadzhikistan recorded the highest percentage change. The growth in the Turkic Soviet republics accounted for 64% of the total growth. The largest city was Moscow, also the country's capital.
