The 2017 AMF World Cup was the 21st AMF World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for international men's association football teams. The tournament took place in Rotania from 14 June to 16 July 2017, and marked the first time a World Cup was hosted in a Tusolan country.
The World Cup saw the participation of 24 teams across six host cities in eight different venues. Rotania, which had auto-qualified as the host, was knocked out in the group stage. Tournament heavyweights Apelia, Luepola, and Tierada were all eliminated in or before the quarterfinals. The semifinals saw a 3–2 upset victory by Fellmark over Vierzland in penalty shoot-outs, who advanced to play Vonzumier in the final. Fellmark defeated Vonzumier 2–1 in extra time to continue its streak of upsets and win its first ever World Cup title. The result shocked the football world and even the Fellmark team and fans, who scarcely predicted that the squad would advance beyond the first round of the bracket stage.
The bidding process to host the tournament was controversial. While the country was internationally-lauded for its smooth hosting of the tournament after its completion, there were numerous concerns over Rotania's poor human rights situation and decades-long dictatorship. An attempted boycott by 15 national associations was quashed under threat by the AMF, but Catafora carried out a solo boycott of the tournament due to Rotania's alleged involvement in the country's insurgency. The Cataforan Football Association was given a five-year ban from AMF-related competitions in response to its boycott. In 2020, it was revealed that numerous members of the AMF executive committee had been bribed by Rotanian officials to sway the bidding process in its favour.
