The Carden Heavy Machine Gun (or commonly known as Carden HMG) is a name primarily used to refer to the water-cooled .303 Lucis (7.7 mm) machine gun produced by Carden .Ltd, originally for the Lucis Army. The machine gun typically required a six to eight-man team to operate: one fired, one fed the ammunition, the rest helped to carry the weapon, its ammunition, and spare parts. Not to be confused with the Mandler machine gun, it was in service from before the First Europan War until the 1960s, with air-cooled versions of it on many Allied First Europan War fighter aircraft.
The gun is known for its solid build and reliability. During the Battle of Avnin, 5 companies from the Royal Tristainian Machine Gun Corps fired their Carden HMGs for twelve hours without suffering a single jam nor defect. The gun was nicknamed as the "Water Gun Wonder".
