Foxomexra (fɑks oʊ mɛks rə), officially the Federal Republic of Foxomexra, is a federal republic located on the continent of Thrismari on Anteria. Foxomexra shares a border with Nyrisia to the west, Sarussia to the south-west, Wytmerna, Asthearia, and Kernexra to the north, Kakland to the east, and Salvan to the south-east. The country is divided into fourteen first-level administrative regions known as "Provinces". The country's ideology is founded upon the principles of Sovereign Internationalism.

History

Formation and Early Centuries of the Empire

Founded in 1432, the Empire of Foxomexra was a loose confederation of feudal states that owed a measure of allegiance to the Emperor, seated in the city of Ardgan. Although usually united against outside threats, infighting within the Empire was common, and land was constantly exchanged both through peaceful means and through wars between rival feudal lords. Gradually power within the Empire came into the hands of a limited number of kingdoms as the many smaller duchies and kingdoms eventually faded out of existence at the hands of more powerful foes. As the Empire grew, so too did its enemies - to the west of Foxomexra was the Gabilian Range, a vast mountain range that had formerly restricted interaction between the Empire and those that lived on the other side, however as power centralized the stronger kingdoms that comprised Foxomexra looked outwards for ways to expand their influence, bringing them into conflict with the Empire of Hereal.

The Hereali Wars

1744 borders of countries within the bounds of present-day Foxomexra. Kingdoms surrounded by a blue and red boundary are members of the Empire of Foxomexra and signatories to the Imperial Unification Treaty, respectively.

In 1728 the First Hereali War began, lasting 6 years, and resulting in a stunning defeat for Foxomexra as they struggled to adapt to the mountainous terrain of Hereal. Foxomexra attempted again in 1740 to gain a foothold in Hereali territory, but the failure of the Foxomexran kingdoms to collaborate with each other led many to question the stability of the Foxomexran imperial system. As the war continued, the kingdoms of Foxomexra began discussing how to best adapt to defeat the Empire of Hereal, and in 1743 the kingdoms signed the Imperial Unification Treaty, under which the kingdoms of the Empire agreed to relinquish a substantial amount of their independent authority over to the Emperor, most notably in the case of military coordination if ever Foxomexra should find itself in a state of war. Although the Second Hereali War was ultimately a loss for the Empire of Foxomexra in 1744, the new system under the Imperial Unification Treaty would prove to be just what was needed to turn the tide against Hereal.

The next few decades were a period of relative peace during which Foxomexra steadily expanded its military capabilities in an attempt to finally defeat Hereal, and in 1779 the Third Hereali War began. The united strength of the Foxomexran kingdoms' military forces were able to win many substantial victories against Hereal, reclaiming territory that was lost in earlier wars against their western foe and gaining a foothold within Hereali territory. In 1793 another invasion was launched and the Fourth Hereali War began, during which most of what is now the Province of Firen was conquered. With the Empire of Hereal starting to falter, the territory that now comprises the Province of Lydia revolted against Hereal in the 1809 Lydian War for Independence, and after receiving support from Foxomexra chose to seek membership as a kingdom within the Empire.

Solar Schism and Instability

Foxomexran society underwent a major upheaval in the early 1800's as a result of the Solar Schism. Although differences in beliefs within the Church of Solarity had led to minor conflicts in years prior, the year 1811 saw these conflicts devolve into a schism that spanned the entire Empire. The two major sides in the Schism were the Solarists - a group generally characterized by their shared belief that all Stars and Greater Bodies contributed to the creation of the universe - and the Traditionalists (contemporarily known as Tendorists) - who held that the star of the Tendor System was the sole source of the universe. Kingdoms within the Empire were divided among these beliefs and found themselves in a state of war with one another. Although the Solar Schism officially was declared over by the Solarist victors in 1818, smaller conflicts throughout Foxomexra continued well into the mid 19th Century.

Taking advantage of the Foxomexra's weakened state, the Empire of Hereal was able to temporarily regain control of the Kingdom of Lydia in 1813, before being pushed back out three years later by the Kingdom of Firen. Hereal was able to maintain control over the remainder of its territory until 1821 when the 7 year long Fifth Hereali War began, after which the Kingdom of Hereal was established as a member of the Foxomexran Empire in what is now known as the Province of Hereal.

Overthrowing the Empire

In 1843 political unrest within Foxomexra led to violent overthrow of the Emperor, and the installation of a democratic form of government in the former Kingdom of Ardgan. The other kingdoms of the Empire denounced Ardgan and began the restoration of the monarchy, however popular support for the new democratic government was widespread and the Empire broke down into chaos. The brutal Foxomexran Civil War erupted, with the kingdoms fighting each other for control of the Empire as revolutionaries struggled to overthrow the monarchical systems and put in place governments that would better represent themselves and their ideals. Order was not restored to Foxomexra until 1856, with the Republic of Ardgan reigning above the crippled former Empire and assisting newly formed republics that had replaced the old feudal system. A system of government was put in place where each republic would be represented within Foxomexra as a province of the country and would hold elections where the common citizen would be able to partake in government.

The Eastern War

Background

Within eastern Foxomexra, the major city of Tilia had long been a point of contention between the provinces of Rugia and Indal. As a key hub for trade along the Thoir River, the city become the subject of numerous conflicts over its status throughout the history of Foxomexra. During the Foxomexran Civil War a tenuous agreement was made between the governments of Rugia and Indal that split the city roughly in half, with the portions of the city located on the east bank of the river belonging to Rugia and the western portions belonging to Indal. For several decades this agreement remained in effect, until in 1886 the nationalist Rogha movement made sweeping gains in Rugia's legislature, and brought rise to renewed demands for Tilia's unification. Rogha - a revanchist movement calling back to memories of the medieval Kingdom of Rogha from which Rugia received its name - began a policy of rapid military expansion, much to the alarm of other provinces. Advisors were sent to observe the evolving military strategies of the time in the ongoing Canter Uprising, where interest in the functionality of the Marca I also brought rise to the development of a tank for Rugian military service.

Eastern Front

Early Actions

On 5 April 1898 Rugian military forces crossed the bridges over the Thoir River into western Tilia, meeting minimal resistance from local police and border security. Indal responded with the deployment of its own military force, with the First Battle of Tilia seeing a decisive Rugian victory. Calls from the Federal Districts to resolve the situation peacefully went ignored by both sides, and the conflict escalated when the province of Drulin came to the aid of Indal, declaring military action necessary to preserve the territorial integrity of provinces. Historians generally consider the involvement of Drulin to be the deciding factor behind the situation's descent into total warfare, although opposition to this understanding exists, with some arguing that internal documents recovered from within the Rugian government at the time support the claim that the issue of Tilia was merely a pretense for Rugia to launch a larger operation against Indal.

With the involvement of Drulin in a "local provincial matter", the provinces of Bhuner and Hereal publicly declared their support for Rugia. To prevent the further continuation of violence, Federal troops were ordered to march into Tilia to enforce a ceasefire in November, but upon arrival at the city received fire from the occupying Rugian forces. Following the Rugian government's demands for Federal forces to leave, the decision was made to instead settle in for a siege of the city to remove the Rugian military by force, starting the Second Battle of Tilia. Unprepared for such an operation, it took several weeks for Federal forces to organize any substantial attempt to take the city. Even cooperating with the military of Indal, Federal forces proved incapable of taking control of the city, and in early March of 1899 Rugia launched a large-scale invasion of Indal's eastern countryside, in conjunction with an attack on Federal territories bordering itself. These operations saw widespread success, except against Drulin forces engaged in western Rugia where the city of Teorl fell to a ferocious Drulin attack, exposing the major city of Lulern to potential attack. While Rugian advances stalled or faced pushback in the west, success against Indal continued well into the summer season. It was not until August when Rugia reached the city of Blutog that the offensive against Indal began to fall apart.

Entry of Esheara

The northern regions of Rugia were at the crossroads between two major subgroups of the Foxomen culture - the Eshearan and Vernish peoples being the third and fourth largest subgroups of the wider culture by population, respectively. During the Rogha Movement's rise to power, the prevalence of these groups within Rugia became a major point used to justify the necessity of Rogha's ideals, with the Eshearan and Vernish minorities being faced with accusations of ineptitude and ill intent towards the province. As a consequence they were faced with constant discrimination on the part of Rugian authorities and were looked down upon by the majority of Rugian society. Itself faced with issues owing to its culturally divided Eshearan and Vernish populations, the province of Esheara considered the potential liberation of oppressed Rugians as a means of uniting its own people, and so on 17 September 1899 the Eshearan General Assembly passed legislation declaring its intention to bring an end to oppression within Rugia.

The entry of Esheara into the war required Rugia to spread its forces to a further degree than it could effectively tolerate, which resulted in a general decline in its fighting capabilities across the frontline. Fall of 1899 saw major pushback against Rugia in occupied territories, and substantial swaths of land were lost in the north. The Rugian military issued orders for troops to dig in and resist hostile advances at all costs, believing that Esheara could easily be forced out of the war by inspiring the Vernish population within it to revolt in exchange for guarantees of territories. With the defeat of Esheara and the support of the province of Vernon, Rugian authorities believed that their remaining enemies could be easily defeated one by one. Along the southern and western fronts, the war saw widespread trench warfare, while the north was remained fast-moving as Rugia launched a massive counteroffensive which it hoped would inspire an uprising. The Rugian gamble proved successful in February of 1900, with a strike towards the heartland of Esheara making solid ground. The push however was made at a great human cost, and by focusing too heavily on one region Rugian defences to the east were subjected to intense assault.

The northern assault did have the intended effect of inciting revolt, with strikes growing widespread among the Vernish population within Esheara culminating in the May Uprising which saw the city of Anlarl declare the establishment of the "Vernish People's Republic". Elsewhere within Vernish-populated regions of Esheara as well as in limited areas of Rugia, guerilla fighting against local authorities took place. Vernish military units within Esheara at times turned on the province, while others were viewed with suspicion or faced punishments out of concern that they would turn. The result of this being a series of significant defeats and the loss of territory against the Rugian advance. In the south, however, the city of Tilia was once again pressured by forces of the Federal coalition, and the third battle over the city began in early October.

Defeat of Rugia

Despite successes in Esheara, the southern and western fronts would collapse shortly after the Liberation of Tilia by Federal and Indal military forces in March of 1901, along with the push of Drulin to the outskirts of the city of Lulern. It became quickly apparent by April that defeat was imminent, causing counties within Rugia to began petitioning Coalition forces for an end to hostilities. On 22 June Federal troops marched into the capital of Rugia to little resistance, although the majority of the government had already fled the city. While many in the government would later be tracked down and face trials in Federal courts for their illegal actions against Indal and the Federal Districts, many would flee into the territory occupied by Vernish rebels fighting against Esheara. Some remnants of the Rugian military also went north, delivering their equipment or offering to continue fighting against Esheara.

The Province of Rugia was put under temporary occupation by the Federal Districts. A formal peace treaty would eventually be signed, granting control over the city of Tilia to Indal, and transferring the territories of Rugia which contained a majority Eshearan and Vernish population to the Province of Esheara.

Western Front

Limited military operations between the Federal Districts and Firen against Bhuner and Hereal. Primarily motivated by Hereali nationalism and drive for independence.

Consequences

The Eastern War resulted in the deaths of several hundred thousand troops on all sides.

The Vernish rebellion within Esheara would continue until 1907, with the establishment and recognition of a newly independent "Eindi Republic" (Eindi being the Vernish word for "United") by the province of Esheara, which immediately appealed to join the Federal Republic as a province.

Conflict in Hereal

Rekindling of Hereali Resistance

Although disdain between the people of eastern Foxomexra and the Hereali people is present throughout history, the turn of the 20th Century saw this hatred take new form. In the past there was a relative balance of power between the two groups, but after the fall of the Hereali Empire the people of Foxomexra found themselves in control. Growing hostile sentiment culminated in the passage of the Baum Resolution on 13 June 1917, a controversial piece of federal legislation that resulted in the forced emigration of an estimated 150,000 Hereali people throughout the country. In retaliation, an attempt to establish an independent Hereali state arose in 1924 when breakaway counties in eastern Hereal declared independence following sudden takeovers of their respective governments. The repression of this revolt was swift and brutal, the perpetrators receiving life sentencing not even three months after their initial declaration. Several of the leaders were killed while in captivity by an angry mob which stormed the military installation they were being held in within the Province of Hereal. The mob consisted of individuals driven by their hatred of the Hereali people who believed that the men should be put to death. How the mob was able to get past military guard became the subject of an extensive investigation, which eventually found the base commander guilty of permitting the mob access due to his personal sympathies to their cause. Although this rebellion failed, occasional attempts have been retried within the Province of Hereal since then to secure the region's independence, some non-violent while others are, including the currently ongoing Hereali Insurrection (2017).

Nyrisi-Foxomen War (WIP)

Background

In the 1950's, tensions between Foxomexra and Nyrisia were elevated by the latter's complacency in preventing Hereali insurgents from utilizing their territory to stage attacks on Foxomexra. The mountains of eastern Nyrisia became a contentious issue between the two nations' governments, as Foxomexra sought extraterritorial rights to launch military expeditions into the mountains. Pressure from the provincial governments of Hereal and Lydia further served to escalate tensions, as the precise demarcation of borders in the mountains had long been a matter of dispute since the dissolution of the Hereali Empire.

First Stage

The inability to reach an agreement with Nyrisia led to the National Congress in (MONTH YEAR) authorizing an expedition into disputed territory with the purpose of neutralizing insurgent threats. On (DAY MONTH YEAR) the Federal Army's 5th and 9th Infantry Divisions - along with the Hereali Expeditionary Brigade - entered the mountains.

- Combat primarily against minor local resistance, as well as insurgent forces present

Second Stage

- Entry of Nyrisian army, a few major battles before terrain/supply issues force both sides to entrench

Third Stage

- Conflict gradually turns to more irregular fighting, skirmishes. A few major maneuvers are attempted. Nyrisia occupies a few villages within Foxomexra's pre-war border.

Aftermath

No formal treaty ending the conflict has ever been signed, and territories occupied by each side continues to be disputed to this day.

Foxomexra is a federal republic comprised of three different branches of government and was designed to defend the model of separation of powers.

  • Executive: Has the ability to veto the passage of laws approved by Congress, which then has the ability to override this veto. Appoints numerous federal employees such as judges and the many presidential advisers. Serves as the highest ranking member of the Foxomexran Combined Armed Forces with the title of “Supreme Commander”.
  • Legislative: Congress makes laws on a federal level, approves declarations of war and the formation of international treaties, manages the federal budget, and can vote to remove members of the federal government from power. The power of the Congress is divided into a lower house (the General Assembly) and an upper house (the Provincial Convention).
  • Judicial: Consists of the numerous levels of federal courts and is responsible for organizing and judging civil and criminal cases, and for interpreting laws while overturning those that are deemed to be in violation of the Foxomexran Constitution.

The total government spending of Foxomexra is 2.1 Trillion ACU, which accounts for 41% of the country's total GDP. Of this, approximately 12% is federal government spending while the remaining 29% is provincial government spending.

The President is elected by representatives of the fourteen provinces to serve a three-year term, with a three term limit applied to the number of times an individual can hold the position. Elections take place on October 28th and the new president is inaugurated on January 14th of the following year. The number of representatives each province receives to vote in the presidential election is decided by the addition of their representatives in the General Assembly and the Provincial Convention. The next presidential election year is 2024.

The current president is Wilson Harrison, with Albert Pinley serving as his vice-president.

Representatives of the provinces in both the General Assembly and the Provincial Convention - the Foxomexran legislative branch's lower and upper house, respectively - are elected by the provinces in ways dictated by each province's government. Representatives of the General Assembly throughout all provinces of Foxomexra are elected by way of a single transferable vote. Representatives of the Provincial Convention are appointed by their respective province's legislature. Elected officials of the General Assembly serve terms of 2 years, with the every seat up for election every two years. Officials of the Provincial Convention serve terms of 4 years and have an election schedule which sees half the seats go up for election every two years. The Congress meets for its first session on the first Monday of January every year. The next Congressional election will take place in 2022.

The political landscape of Foxomexra is sometimes considered to be unusual, due in large part to the nature of its governing structure. With the high autonomy of each province within Foxomexra, political parties are not typically very united across provincial lines except in the forming of coalitions in the federal legislature, however these coalitions tend to be quite fragile due to the weak connections parties involved in them usually have between themselves.

  • Conservative Coalition: The largest coalition of parties in Foxomexra, boasting a membership of around 43% of the voting population. The Conservative Coalition is a broad organization consisting of dozens of political parties across all of the Federal Republic's provinces. Conservatives are united by a common belief in the necessity of limiting federal authority while preserving the integrity of the Federal Republic. Outside of this, the ideology of a Conservative can vary quite wildly on a matter of Provincial politics. Despite the relative disunity in specific goals, on a federal level the coalition is able to persist due to a common interest in preservation of the national constitution.
  • Federalist Coalition: Although extremely different in overall view regarding the role of the federal government, the Federalist Coalition is often considered to be closely aligned with the Conservative Coalition. The Federalist Coalition saw a large rise in popularity after the Drulin Civil War as the resulting instability led many to believe earlier federal intervention would have stifled much of the chaos. Advocates argue in favour of greater federal authority in provincial affairs and often hold a far more interventionist attitude regarding foreign affairs. The most extreme of Federalists may propose bans on particularly “anti-Foxomexran” parties espousing ideologies in favour of monarchism or fascism. Growth over the past several decades has seen the Federalist Coalition expand to encompass roughly 17% of the voting population of Foxomexra.
  • Libertarian Coalition: Comprises approximately 18% of the voting population. While most definitions would classify the Conservative Coalition as libertarian, in Foxomexra the Libertarian Coalition goes well beyond the small government advocated for by traditional proponents of the ideology. Ranging from small government parties to outspoken independence parties, libertarians often view the existence of the federal government as an inherent problem and push for even greater autonomy among provinces. Especially in recent years the libertarians have criticized a growing federal authority which has enacted country-wide policies under the guise of "protecting civil rights", has limited provincial military sizes, established federal oversight over provincial foreign affairs, and more. The Liberation Coalition includes numerous Provincial independence movements - most notably within the Provinces of Hereal and Esheara.
  • Socialist Coalition: 8% of the population.
  • Nationalist Coalition: 3% of the population.
  • Green Coalition: 4% of the population.
  • Other Coalitions and Parties: 9% of the population.

Territory of Foxomexra

The Federal Republic of Foxomexra is divided into 14 Provinces. The most populated of which and home to the Foxomexran government is the Federal Districts of Ardgan, which consists of many separated regions of territory, the largest of which is contiguous with the city of Ardgan itself. Collectively the Federal Districts have a population of just over 27 million people (roughly one-fifth of the entire national population) while accounting for approximately 16% of the country's total land area. The Federal Districts rank highest in terms of their contribution to the national (nominal) Gross Domestic Product, with a GDP of 1.47 Trillion ACU.

In terms of GDP per capita, the Province of Gethuaidh ranks number one with a GDP per capita of 64,605 but followed closely behind by the Province of Drulin. Drulin, with a population of around 13.9 million and a land area of 67,461 square kilometers, ranks first in terms of density, with 206 people living within the Province per square kilometer. The military forces of Drulin are considered by many to be the best and most well-trained in Foxomexra, both recently and historically known for producing the best soldiers in the country. Drulin is also home to the Tsora Corporation, the largest corporation in the country and a major provider of arms for the various military forces of Foxomexra.

Foreign Affairs

International Organizations

The Federal Republic of Foxomexra is a founding member of the South Anterian Defense Alliance, and is a member of the Thrismari Union.

The country was formerly a member of the Initiative for Global Peace but following the IGP's decision to join the Anterian World Assembly it was decided to rescind membership. The government of Foxomexra is vehemently opposed to the ideals of the AWA, arguing that the organization's "globalistic" ideology is in stark contrast to Sovereign Internationalism - the foundation of Foxomexran principles - which advocates among other things the protection of a country's national sovereignty against foreign interference.

Individual Nations

Foxomexra is wholly responsible for the defence of Kernexra and exercises some degree of control in the latter's internal affairs. By general understanding of the definition Kernexra is best described as a protectorate of Foxomexra, although the Agreement of National Responsibility signed between the two makes no use of this term, instead referring to the relationship as one of "Federal Association".

In March of 2021 Foxomexra and Abjekistan signed a treaty of friendship and understanding, promoting improved relations and facilitating greater economic cooperation. The treaty encourages both signatories to provide fair and equitable treatment to the Nationals of the other within their territory, to simplify entry procedures, and to provide fair protection and security in accordance with local law. In addition to this, both parties agree that - if either ends up in a state of conflict with any country or organization - no aid will be provided to enemy forces.

The Illegal Transportation Taskforce - a federal law enforcement agency within Foxomexra - is tasked with cooperating with foreign law enforcement where possible to limit the smuggling of specific goods (typically drugs) from Foxomexra, due to the widespread legality and availability of many drugs within Foxomexra.

Trade Law

Foxomexra is obligated under international agreements to alter its usual tariff policy when doing business with certain partners, outlined below.

Thrismari Union - All goods under which the Global Tariff applies may have at maximum a duty of 2% applied. Due to the distinction within Foxomexra of Federal and Provincial taxation, the Foxomexran government may impose at maximum a duty of 1.5% to goods under the Global Tariff, with the remaining difference left to Provincial tariff law.

Dokodo Union - All goods under which the Global Tariff applies have no duties imposed.

Law Enforcement

People's Protection Service

PPS personnel in their standard uniform for civil protection

The People's Protection Service is a branch of the Federal Combined Armed Forces that is provided the responsibility of carrying out domestic law enforcement. They, along with the individual civil forces of each province, constitute the bulk of Foxomexran policing agencies. While the PPS' primary responsibilities are the policing of the Federal Districts and the military they have a considerable presence within each province, although they typically serve under the jurisdiction of local authority.

In the wake of growing instability owing to the signing of the Imperial Unification Treaty, then-king of the Empire of Foxomexra, Karek Sliaban II, ordered the formation of the PPS in 1763. The organization saw great success in maintaining stability and grew to serve as a symbol of unity within the Empire, asserting itself as a true force for the protection of the people during the Solar Schism by refusing to enforce laws targeting followers of particular religious sects. Despite being considered a "royal" institution, the organization was able to survive the era of Republicanisation after the Foxomexran Civil War with little change to its structure and identity.

Illegal Transportation Taskforce

The Illegal Transportation Taskforce is a federal law enforcement agency tasked with fighting the transport of illegal goods within Foxomexra. The ITT's most notable roles involve combating human trafficking, arms trafficking, counterfeiting, smuggling, and environmental crimes such as illegal fishing and illegal logging. Due to the legality of most drugs within Foxomexra, the country is often used as a platform for international smuggling. To combat this, the ITT cooperates with foreign law enforcement to crack down on illegal interactions.

Culture

Religion

Artistic Representation of the Primordial Star Explanation

The dominant religion within Foxomexra is the Church of Solarity. Commonly referred to as "Solarism", and often considered a religious form of rationalism, the Church follows the teachings of the Foxomexran philosopher Charles Wiggins (1538 - 1617). Wiggins believed that every living thing had an innate shared value, and advocated for the general study of natural philosophy. While the Church of Solarity advocates for rational thought, some criticize the Church's claim to be "rationalist" and "empirical" while also describing itself as a religious institution, which by nature is based on faith rather than empiricism. The Church has argued against such criticisms by stating that although their motivations are faith-based, the method by which they arrive at conclusions is based on the scientific method and rational philosophical thought.

A widespread teaching of the Church is that all aspects of the universe prefer a state of chaos, and thus will gradually return to such state. The sentience of humanity has led to the establishment of order through the development of civilization, however complacency with a particular structure can lead to stagnation, and chaos follows as a society gradually begins to break down. This perspective rose to particular prominence during the final decades of the Empire of Foxomexra, and served an influential role in the creation of the Federal Republic's democratic system of government. Solarists believe that democratic systems of government with high levels of autonomy have the greatest ability to withstand this degradation as their welcoming of opposing ideals encourages constant change in society.

During the time of Charles Wiggins the idea of Heliocentrism was just starting to gain substantial ground throughout Foxomexran society. For centuries since the Church's founding it was believed that the universe, both the living and unliving, originated from the Sun. It was not until the 19th Century that this idea was heavily challenged by evidence that the Sun was not dissimilar from any other star in the universe, which brought the foundations of the Church into question. While many were willing to accept this revelation, a great number either doubted or outright refused to tolerate such a belief, thus beginning a series of conflicts collectively referred to as the Solar Schism. From 1811 to 1818 these conflicts persisted, eventually resulting in the acceptance throughout most of the Church that the Sun alone was not the sole source of creation, and that instead the universe was the result of the work of multiple "Greater Bodies". The Greater Bodies Explanation is the precursor to the current leading belief for the origins of the universe in the Church, which is that of the Primordial Star Explanation.

Design

Modern Foxomexran artchitecture is designed with the mindset that form follows function. The Foxomexran Functionalist movement found its roots in the late 19th Century within the Province of Drulin, where the movement was able to gain traction for several decades. This growth was stunted at the onset and aftermath of the Eastern War, at which time a country-wide shift to Romanesque Revivalism took hold and maintained strong influence in the country until the 1930's. As Romanesque Revivalism gradually died out, Expressionism and a revitalized Functionalist movement began seeing widespread popularity throughout eastern Foxomexra. Although the Expressionist movement was still highly influential particularly in the provinces of Indal and Rugia well into the 1950's, it was around this time that Functionalism grew to become the dominant style throughout Foxomexra.

Entertainment

Entertainment industries in Foxomexra prosper from a wide consumer base and friendly relations with neighbouring countries. Although Foxomexran entertainment products do not see much foreign consumption there is still a market for such. The film industry makes up a significant portion of entertainment revenue in the country, however since the advent of home video there has been a drastic decrease in its influence.

Foxomexran youth often occupy their time with various physical and video games. Popular game producer Heizco is known domestically for its production of hit board games such as Global Warfare, along with its widely played trading card game Magistal. Magistal is particularly popular among children in their earlier years - it is a common occurrence to see students compare their collections of wizards and magical spells to their friends' during school hours. Although physical games have generally seen a slow decline in recent decades, the videogame market is prospering, especially in central Foxomexra where provinces have some of the highest youth dependency ratios in the country.

Economy (WIP)

Tsora is the largest Foxomexran company by revenue and the second largest in terms of employment. The Tsora Company consists of several subsidiaries, and is commonly known for its electronics manufacturing services, its defence industry contributions, and its historical significance in the 1978 Drulin Civil War. One subsidiary, Tsora Productions, creates and publishes films and shows for local and international consumption.

Antach is a company known for their popular streaming service, Fizer, which has over 37 million registered subscribers worldwide.

CSEA Inc. operates the two largest stock exchanges in Foxomexra - the CSEA electronic exchange based in the city of Renol, as well as the Ardgan Stock Exchange - and maintains several stock exchanges in foreign countries such as Blechingia and Encessia.

There are three categories of tariffs that must be considered when engaging in international business: The Global Tariff (GT), a duty of varying rate applied to nearly all imported goods; the National Resource Tariff (NRT), an export duty on several key national resources such as oil, coal, and nuclear materials; and Provincial tariffs, which may be established by individual Provinces on goods entering or leaving their respective territories (except goods affected by the NRT). Exemptions or reductions to the above tariffs can be applied typically through the signing of trade agreements with foreign governments, the establishment of a temporary duty suspension in times of emergency, or by way of the Supplementary Development Rate which allows for reduced or zero duties on goods imported from developing nations.

Certain goods - notably those which serve dual civilian military functionality - require distinct licensing for international business. The Supplementary Development Rate does not affect arms and ammunition. In addition to standard tariffs, the Foxomexran government applies economic sanctions against governments engaging in questionable economic of political practices, or which do not preserve the human rights of their people.

Military

The Department of the Military runs the Foxomexran Combined Armed Forces (FCAF), which consists of around 1 million active personnel and 2.4 million reserve personnel. The F.C.A.F. consists of the Federal Military Force and the individual armed forces of the Foxomexran provinces. The FCAF is primarily a defencive force, protecting against hostile threats and acting as a last resort in resolving conflicts between Provinces. The collective military forces' expenditure comprise about 4.7% of the country's total GDP, which is around 241 billion ACU. Of this, federal spending and total provincial spending are roughly equal. The Federal Military Force fields personnel from all provinces, however the majority are citizens of the Federal Districts. It consists of 511,072 active personnel and 840,663 reserve personnel, and is split into four main branches - the Republican Army, the Navy, the Aerospace Division, and the People's Protection Service - which each have their own subdivisions.

Each Province’s military is designed to operate entirely within its own territory, and so the structure of each differs greatly. Typically consisting of very limited active personnel with a far larger reserve force who are called upon to serve in times of crisis, the provinces tend to have their militaries serve as a supplementary police force. As a result of occasional conflicts between provinces the scope of provincial militaries has gradually been limited by the federal government, especially after the destructive Eastern War. Restrictions on force limits and equipment availability have become a point of contention for some, although generally they are viewed as necessary for continued prosperity.

Military Service

Upon reaching the age of 16, males across the country are screened for eligibility to serve in the Foxomexran Combined Armed Forces. Males who have been determined to be eligible for military service are sent to one of several federal military schools throughout the country for two years. If a candidate is a citizen of a province other than the Federal Districts of Ardgan, he may instead be sent to a provincial academy for service in the respective province's military. At the end of this period of schooling each person is screened, and if accepted will proceed to enter military service, performing a mandatory 287 day (41 week) service, 17 of which are performed consecutively as an initial standard training program, the other 24 of which are performed over the course of 10 years. Any person who has been conscripted to serve in the armed forces, until they have finished the full 10 years of service, are considered members of the reserve unless volunteering to serve in active service or brought into active service.

While the F.C.A.F. permits men and women to serve, the military is disproportionately dominated by male service members. While this is primarily due to male-only conscription in the military, the general lack of interest among many female Foxomexrans in serving along with the existence of common standards for personnel regardless of gender play a significant role in discouraging women from volunteering. Proponents of greater representation of women in the F.C.A.F. have long called for a distinction in standards to end the current system weighed against females. Although the federal military has made no pushes to ending their current policy, the provinces of Rugia, Lydia, and Esheara have all enacted legislation creating distinct standards.

Military Technology

Foxomexra strives to be at the forefront of aerospace technological development, but suffers greatly in the field of naval technology. Infantry units of the F.C.A.F. are equipped with the latest GEN III ATG night vision technology, and development into the field of drone technology has been progressing to provide new support assets to personnel on the ground. Conflict throughout the 20th Century within the Province of Hereal - blanketed in the roughest terrain Foxomexra has to offer - has encouraged great improvements in development of the country's aerial reconnaissance capabilities.

Foxomexra has a nuclear arsenal of 250 warheads, able to be delivered via the "X6-GNM" MIRV ICBM which has a maximum range of 10,000 km, or the "X7-SNM" MIRV SLBM with its range of 11,000 km. Several different chemical weapons are used by the military such as white phosphorus and lachrymators, however regulations are in place regarding their use especially when concerning civilian environments.

Space Operations

The Aerospace Division maintains a network of several dozen satellites in orbit around Anteria which contribute to its Bundes Satellitennavigationssystem (BSNS), providing detailed satellite imagery and navigation services to the military and Foxomexra's allies. A limited version of the navigation system is provided to the general public for civilian use. Foxomexra maintains Liberty Space Station, an orbital research lab constructed in orbit from 1996 to 2005. After the founding of the South Anterian Defense Alliance Liberty has been jointly maintained by multiple members of the alliance.

Several tests have been conducted to demonstrate the military's ability to target and destroy satellites in orbit around the planet, and further developments have been made in attempts to find effective ways of cleaning space debris. The Initiative for Clean Orbit is an ongoing operation conducted by the military with the goal of keeping space accessible to every nation around the world by limiting the creation of space debris and finding ways of removing debris already in space.
