RANK Jean de Flandre III (LIFESPAN) was an officer in the Furbish Army from the De Flandre family, notable for being one of three known individuals who fought in all three Great Wars and the oldest known person who fought in the Third Great War. He was also known for surviving many injuries he sustained during the wars, including several gunshot wounds and plane crashes.

De Flandre was the youngest son of XXX and XXX. XXX is the middle son of Gendarmerie officer and Burger commander Jean de Flandre. De Flandre wanted to live up to his grandfather's legacy and planned on joining the Army. When the First Great War started in 1913, de Flandre was one month away from turning 16, but enlisted under a fake name, joined by his sister Marguerite. They were deployed to the Stratean front, where de Flandre survived being shot several times, including through his head twice, his stomach, and chest. When returning to the front from leave, he survived after his ship was struck by a submarine. He also escaped a prisoner of war camp two times. De Flandre revealed his real age around a month after he turned 19. He was promoted to lieutenant by then and was allowed to keep his position and honors.

After the war ended, de Flandre chose to stay in the Army. He attended the University of XXX but dropped out. He was involved in several conflicts around the world after the First Great War. When the Second Great War began, de Flandre was a brigadier general, promoted to major general, and given command of the 2nd division, which was deployed to the Abos front. De Flandre preferred to lead from the front, usually from a machine gun nest or landcruiser. He once again distinguished himself, and was promoted to general and given several commands in Abos and Stratea. He survived being shot at four separate times during the war and two plane crashes. After the war, he was made the Furbish military envoy to the León Monarchy, and later commander of Furbish forces in Stratea, a command he held in the War of 1959-1963. De Flandre retired shortly after the war's conclusion as he reached the Furbish Military's mandatory retirement age of 65.

De Flandre was bitter about his defeat. When the Third Great War began a little over a decade later, de Flandre, who was 77, rejoined the Furbish Army under a fake name and pretended to be 20 years younger. He was deployed to Tresula, which fell to Lauilliac Pact forces a year later. De Flandre let a younger soldier take his spot on one of the evacuating boats, and rather than surrendering he commanded a guerilla campaign against occupying forces until the islands were retaken four years later. During the campaign de Flandre once again survived several gunshot wounds and escaped a prisoner of war camp. Furbish soldiers attempted to bring de Flandre back to The Furbish Islands when Tresula was retaken, but he evaded them and arrived to mainland Stratea. De Flandre was caught again, but was allowed to serve as an adviser to General XXX for the remainder of the war. While in The Furbish Islands on leave in 1983, he became seriously ill, and died shortly after learning of the end of the Third Great War.
