The Erebonian Civil War also known as the October War (30 October 2018 - 1 January 2019) was a conflict that lasted for 3 months. The conflict originated with the Erebonian Nobility going against the plan of Erebonian Prime Minister Giliath Osbourne and Governor Carl Regnitz to remove the Nobility of their political powers and parties and only allowing commoners to enter into politics, this opening more opportunities for the lower and middle-classes. The Nobility at this time was led by Croire de Cayenne from the Province of Lamarre. The Duke of Cayenne disagreed with the rising power of the House of Commons.

The nobility, wielding nearly 60% of political powers had posed numerous problems throughout the country. Following his election in the 2013 Erebonian general elections, Osbourne has attempted several times to remove the nobility. However, his intentions were fully obvious to the nobility. There were several reasons for Osbourne in attempting to remove the power of the nobility, one of which was during the incident known as the Four Great Houses.

The Prime Minister later took matters into his own hands. On 30 October 2018, as Osbourne took his speech to declare a national law, an assassin fired the shot, "killing" him, thus, sparking the war. 60% of the populace was manipulated by the Nobility into turning against the government. 50% of Erebonia fell under influence of the Nobility. Various skirmishes took place throughout the country. The Lucis Commonwealth of Nations firmly supported the Erebonian government, which allowed the LCAE under the command of Field Marshal Sir Kiriya Kitagawa to take control of Western Erebonia. Northern Erebonia was later placed under government control following the cooperation of the LCAE with the Imperial Army of Erebonia loyal to the government. By December, the Nobility only had 40% of control in Erebonia. Later that month, in a shocking news, the supposedly deceased Prime Minister Osbourne emerged and revealed that he had faked his death in order for the conflict to happen. This event shocked Erebonians, as well as the Lucis Commonwealth. Nevertheless, the government forces retook the capital of Heimdallr, but in January, the Osbourne launched an Invasion of the Crossbell State, violating the Treaty of Randgriz.

Following the conflict, Prime Minister Osbourne destroyed the Nobility's political power, dissolved the House of the Nobility, and enacted on the National Mobilisation Law, which received mixed reactions from the public. The following year, the 2020 Erebonian Empire Crisis began as Prime Minister Osbourne attempted to invade and place the Calvard Republic under Erebonian influence. It was found to be disagreeable and the War of the Commons began, with the forces loyal to Osbourne fighting against the newly formed Imperial Resistance.
