The Navy Royal is the combined naval and air force of Great Nortend. It is commonly dated to the arrival of the House of Anthord to Great Nortend, at first consisting of the fleet which brought Edmund V to Galepool. It is considered a green-water navy tasked with defence as well as international co-operative operations.

Note that the rank of Lieutenant corresponds to the Army ranks of Lieutenant and Captain. Naval Lieutenants are numbered by seniority aboard ship, and First Lieutenant corresponds directly to an Army Captain.

Ensigns

Every squadron has two types of ensign, the Naval Ensign and the Squadron Ensign. The Naval Ensign is the Red Ensign. The Squadron Ensign is unique to every squadron and usually is a heraldic design. Each ship in a squadron has its own Naval Ensign and Squadron Ensign. The Squadron Ensign bears the ship's battle honours, and the battle honours of preceding ships with the same name.
