It is the smallest union republic by both population and area, and the most densely populated. It borders Kartvelia to the north, Azerbaijan to the east[c], Iran to the south, and Turkey to the west. Its capital and largest city, Yerevan, is the republic's primate city, with nearly a third of the population living there. Other cities of note include Leninakan, Kirovakan and Ejmiatsin.
