Sir George Louis James Drachington, KMT PC MP, born 13th of August, 1962, is an Erbonian politician serving as His Majesty's Principal Secretary and Clerk of State for Foreign and Welch Affairs since the election of the Duke of Limmes's ministry in the 2009 general elections.
Sir George was born in the market town of Rentwist, Almeshire. He was sent to Chepingstow School and thence matriculated at Wistfin College of the University of Aldesey where he read the arts, graduating with a B.A. and M.A. There, he was elected a member of the University of Aldesey Society of Scodeliers. He was first elected to the House of Burgesses in 1990 as the Burgess for Godsucham as a member of the Company of Scodeliers. He was promoted to the Utter Ministry during the second ministry of the Earl of Alsby as Clerk of the Exchequer in 2003 after the passing of Catherine II. During the Margrave of Bine's ministry, Sir George was made Shadow Foreign Clerk, and with the election of the Duke of Limmes's ministry in 2009, he was commissioned as Foreign Clerk.
Early life
Drachington was born into a relatively wealthy family in Rentwist to Richard and Edwina Drachington, prominent social figures in Rentwist and surrounding areas. Richard Drachington practised as a solicitor in Rentwist and served as a warden of the peace until his death in 1980.
He was raised at Egstamp House, a few miles from Rentwist proper, which had been held in the Drachington family for over a century in petty serjeanty to the Lords of the Manor of Filstoit Lessham, including the eminent politician, Sir Clarence Chausley who had served as Burgess of Godsucham for nearly fifty years.
Drachington was sent to Limmes School to board from the age of 11 where he was made a praefectus and excelled in history and Latin. He matriculated as a commoner undergraduate at Wistfin College of the University of Aldesey where he read for his degree in Arts, in particular in politics, jurisprudence and oeconomics and literature.
Career
Drachington became a clerk at Langton's Bank where he gained experience in business and the commercial world. Having worked his way up the hierarchy, by the age of 28 he had managed to reach a senior managerial position in the bank. During this time, he regularly corresponded with Sir Clarence, who Drachington credited as being a formative influence on his younger self.
Drachington left the firm in 1990, to stand for election as Burgess for Godsucham after the retirement of Sir Clarence. He was elected with a majority of 64 per cent of the vote, and entered Parliament as a government MP, giving his maiden speech on the 6th of June that year.
