The Glowstone Isles are a special region of Crown Royal Goverment. It was a broken-off piece of Indefinite Color before it arrived in Sparkalia.

Indefinite Color Realms IIwiki page regarding the Glowstone Isles

History

The Glowstone Isles fell near the Crown Royal sometime in 1400 AR. The island cluster landed 20 km from Vladirostock (Olden-day Korolya), fell on top of an underwater volcano hours before it was predicted to erupt. The Moonlit Bastille, the capital, is the rebuilt ruins of a fallen fortress, where most of the population resides. Over 200 years, two smaller towns had formed in the Glowstone Isles. The regional capital was established as the Moonlit Bastille, which also happens to be the largest city in the isles.

Geography

The Glowstone Isles houses around 30'000 people and has a total area of about 65 Square-Kilometers. It consist of about 20 steep islands of varying size grouped together. The island cluster is located 22km south from Korolya, having fallen onto the underwater volcano 'Chimmney'.

The isles contain a certain type of rock that glows faintly white, reminding of moonlight. This makes the isles shimmer slightly at night.

Glowstone Isles Autonomous Area/Special Autonomous Zone

The Glowstone Isles is designated as the Glowstone Isles Autonomous Area [GIAA] and as a Special Autonomous Zone. While being part of the Crown, they retain their sovereignty over the laws of their land, and the Glowstone Isles can decide for themselves who goes in and out. It's also a general no-fly zone for most commercial flights. As the Moonlit Bastille's uncountable towers were deemed a flight hazard by the Crown Air ministry. Fey-owned ships frequently shuttle to and from Vladirostock, as they were recognized as an 'Alternate means for transport', and granted special permission to be used by the Crown.

Cities and Settlements

Moonlit Bastille

The Moonlit Bastille is the capital of the Glowstone Isles, and is the size of a small city built with Glowstone. When the Bastille fell from the sky with the rest of the land, many parts of it were shattered. The survivors of the lands gathered themselves in the ruin to take shelter and slowly built a small fey-city. The Bastille is always full of activity. It expands, as it is slowly built up ever grander. The Bastilla is filled with many large towers piercing the sky. The architecture was layered, with uncountably many bridges connecting all the parts of the huge castle.

At night, the city shines like the moon's surface. This serves as a great tourist attraction, usually drawing in small crowds of people to watch this phenomenon.

Mirror-Haven

Mirror-Haven is a small port-town further away from the capital. It gains it's name from the unusually reflective water, that seems to make all light more vibrant. The potent reflection of light makes dawns and dusks especially spectacular, bringing in a melodic and magical atmosphere. The town is full of melody.

Echo-Pick

Echo-Pick is a small town in the side of a mountainous island. It was originally a station for mining the precious Glowstone. The mountain seems to be larger on the inside, to have some other anomalous properties, as any tunnel mined, no matter how deep, has not yet been able to reach an end. The deeper one goes, the more one hears strange echoes.

Goverment

The Best Court

The highest governmental body of the Glowstone Isles is the Best Court, formed every 7 seasons. A series of 7 competitions is held, the Glowstone Best Games, 5 in Moonlit Bastille, 1 each in Mirror-Haven and Echo-Pick. In each competition 7 judges are randomly selected to give out points. The 7 highest pointed individuals are given the title of the Best and form the Best Court. The population then votes one of them as leader by approval voting, giving them the title of the Bestest.

The current Bestest is Winster. His wings vibrant aquamarine and lavender. He became one of the Best twice, but was only recently voted Bestest his first time.

The Glowstone Best Games are organized and monitored by the Glowstone Game Vedette, who are zealous and merciless and take their job very seriously, punishing cheating and interference severely. Evading the Glowstone Game Vedette and attempting to meddle with the Games is difficult, but successful attempts to do so are valid, as proving skilled and clever enough to outplay the GGV is in a sense also winning the game, as difficult as it is.

The Translation Department

The Translation Department is a governmental body of the Glowstone Isles, based in the Moonlit Bastille. This department is in charge of dealing with translating between Germanic, Common, Vei-Nomili or Palewood Vei-Nomili. They are tasked with translating the laws and decrees between languages. A trend noticed by the Translation Department and the Crown Royal is the rise of a variation of a standardized local dialect of Vei-Nomili, that being the Bastille Vei-Nomili dialect.

Military

The Glowstone Quarrel Force [GQF] is the official military organization of the Glowstone Isles. It consists of about 300 personnel, divided into 3 Swarms of 100, each lead by an individual titled the Crescendo. The GQF is officially a branch under the rule of the Crown Royal Goverment military, but is granted generous sovereignty, with its primary purpose being to defend the Glowstone Isles.

The GQF is in ownership of 81 airships, which were originally set out-of-commission by the Crown Royal Goverment military, and then handed down to the GQF. Gifted with more vessels than the small force knew what to do with, they found creative uses. 6 airships were tied together with suspension bridges and permanently elevated into the sky, for a mobile headquarters. Other vessels were repurposed cafes, sleeping quarters, libraries, or other functionalities. The Glowstone Quarrel Force is said to have most of its assets permanently airborne.
