The Independent Freedom Party (French reformed: Parti indépendant d'liberté), abbreviated IFP (PIL), is a Gylian political party, part of the Union for Freedom and Prosperity bloc.

History

The Independent Freedom Party was founded in 1969, after the "constructive"–"recalcitrant" battle within Gylian conservatism ended with a "constructive" victory and the destruction of the Conservative Coalition.

It formed an alignment with several new centre-right parties that were established in the wake of the Civic National Party, which became the National Bloc.

During the wretched decade, the party increasingly drifted away from its traditional liberal corporatism, and moved increasingly towards economic liberalism and right-wing populists, creating a rift with the traditional Hannaist parties of the NB. Lea Kersed's death and the dérive au droite exposed these tensions, and the party split from the NB in 1989 to establish the Union for Freedom and Prosperity.

The party suffered at the 1990 federal election due to fallout from the dérive au droite and neoliberal conspiracy, and has since remained a marginal presence in Gylian politics.

Ideology

The IFP represents the neoliberal formation of the UFP.
