History
Geography
Danyguixh is located in the Xizabi Valley (Otomi for “Many Lakes”), in the high plateaus of west-central Mutul. It has a minimum altitude of 1900 meters above sea level and is surrounded by mountains and volcanoes over 4000 meters. The valley is famous for its important many lakes and rivers, which made it an especially fertile and important place for the early farmers who colonized the area. It’s around these lakes, rivers, artificial canals and bassins that the city, originally only located in the east of the valley, grew. These many, small or large, lakes are still visible to this day, generally as part of one of the city’s many parks. These open waters were maintained, rather than drained to make place for more lands, to limit the effects of the urbanization of the valley which had led to problems associated with the ground waters and the heavily saturated clay on which all the city is built.
Climate
subtropical highland, The average annual temperature varies from 12 to 16 °C depending on the altitude. The temperature is rarely below 3 °C or above 30 °C. The lowest recorded temperature was -5,4 °C.
Since the city is located in the southern hemisphere, precipitations are heavily concentrated in the “winter”, with little to no precipitation the rest of the year.
Throughout its history, the Valley used to have several snowfalls per decade, sometime in rapid succession, mostly lake-effect snow. Now, because of the heavy urbanisation and anthropisation and climate change, snowfalls are rarer but still recorded once or twice per decades.
Demographics
According to the census of 2012, Danguixh's urban area has a population of 1,2 millions. Of these, around a third live in the municipality proper, the rest in its suburbs.
Danguixh is a cosmopolitan city, with distinct quarters occupied by the main ethnies of the valley. Linguistic datas show that the main ethnies of the city are the N’yuhu, Tatinak, Nuu Davi, and the Be'ena'a. On their own, the Tatinak represent more than 40% of the total population, while the Nuu Davi, the Be’ena’a, and the N'yuhu represent around 19% each. Other minorities exist, amounting together at around 3% of the total population. These minorities include the Teenek, and “Mutun”, whom maternal language is simply Mutli.
In term of age distribution, in 2003, 20% of the population was aged between 0 - 14 years old, 70% between 15 and 65, and the remaining 10% were aged over 65.
politics
Danguixh is the capital of both the Kanol Yajawil and the Xizab’i Kuchkabal. As a result, the city possess three Acropolis : the Kan Sakek Nah where the current Yajaw, Aj Neh Ho B’alamb, reside, in the Old City. Meanwhile, the Halak Winik, Aj Bolon Chaaj, reside in the Sakikek Nah, a smaller acropolis located close to Main Lake Park. And finally the Batab of the city reside in the Muyalol Nah, which was built during the 1920s at the exact geographical center of the city to serve as a more convenient hub for the municipality. The current Batab and official representative of the city is Aj Ox Ek' Chuaj.
The Batabil serves as the day-to-day administrative authority, and is headed by the Batab, who is assisted by numerous Vice-Batab and Assistants. Each vice-Batab is given jurisdiction over specific municipal boroughs.
The Danguixh Ch’ob purpose is to nominally approve the nomination of the Batab by the Halak Winik, and then of the Vice-Batabs nominated by the Batab. If they do not agree with a nomination, the Ch’ob can theorically elect one of its own to take the position. The Ch’ob is also a venue of discussion on municipal issues, although this is dependent on the actions of individual representatives.
Economy
Danguixh is the financial center of the Mutuleses mining companies and other enterprises dedicated to ressource extraction in general. It's the "second heart" of Western Mutul when it comes to finances and the economy, behind Yu. The municipality and its surroundings are one of the largest iron and steel centres in the Mutul, both historically and in modern times, and a major aluminium producers. Natural ressources are important with large reserves of copper, silver, gold, platinium, and many historical obsidian carries. Because of these natural resources, remoteness, and early metallurgic traditions, Danguixh became an important manufacturing center of weapons and armaments, from small arms to artillery. This carry out to this day with Danguixh still being an important military base in weapons research and development.
Foreign investments in Danguixh have been facilitated by the Divine Throne to foster the diversification of the local economy. Rezeses corporations have settled branchs in the city or invested in local laboratories, with a research focus on algae like spirulina, but also on fungi, with many teams working on projects with applications for the agricultural and pharmaceutical sectors, but also for future generations of biofuels.
Because of it’s distance from the coast, Danguixh industrial sector isn’t meant for export. Rather, it’s aimed to serve the interior market of the Mutul, producing goods such as processed food, chemicals, textiles, machinery and electronics for local consumption.
Many financial institutions, either public or privates, have branches in Danguixh, attracted by the growth of the city and the potential of the nearby regions, either be it the rest of Kanol or the viceroyalties of Muynal and Nuhmuwitz, whose economies are still predominantly based on ressources extraction (energy, minerals...).
