Gabriel, Hereditary Prince of Montgisard (Gabriel Zidore Louis Joscelin; b. 25 December 1995) is heir apparent to the Montgisene throne. He has been Hereditary Prince of Montgisard since 2013, after the death of his uncle, Ambroise.

In addition to his title of Hereditary Prince of Montgisard, Gabriel bears the historical title of Marquis of Destroit, in addition to Duke of Amblat.

Early life and education

Gabriel was born on Christmas Day, 1995 at Eallasse Palace, in Destroit, Montgisard, the first born child of Arthur, Duke of Amblat and Ascalene noblewoman María del Rocío González. He has one sister, Ines, born in 2000. His father, Arthur, was the second eldest son of the reigning Prince of Montgisard, Joscelin V. Gabriel was baptized at St John's Basilica, in Sydalon, by Pope Benedict VIII, with water from the Cultivida River. His godparents are Catalina González (his materal aunt); X; Alice, Queen of Gaemar (his paternal aunt); and Garlan, King of Gaemar (Alice's husband). He was named Gabriel after his great-great-grandfather Gabriel, Lord of Villahermosa. His full baptismal name is Gabriel Zidore Louis Joscelin.

At his birth, Gabriel was third in the line of succession to the Montgisene throne, after his uncle, Ambroise, and father, Arthur. He was invested as a Prince of Montgisard from birth, and was heir to his father's title, Duke of Amblat, an appanage.

In 2008, Gabriel's father Arthur died when the plane he was piloting crashed, whereupon Gabriel became Duke of Amblat. Gabriel gave the eulogy at his father's funeral.

Education

Gabriel was educated locally in Montgisard by private tutors for his early education. He went on to attend X, later enrolling at Lyceu ta'Aradia, in Ostracine, for prep school. While at Lyceu ta'Aradia, Gabriel was classmates of other prominent Sydalene nobles and royalty, including Prince Roletus of Petra and XXXX. He earned his baccalauréat from the Aradia in 2012.

In fall 2012, Gabriel enrolled at Imperial Naval College at Pola, in Latium, for his university education and military officer training. He was enrolled as "Cadet Amblat". While at Pola, he studied Politics, Philosophy, and Economics and took part in military training exercises. He participated on the school's club polo team throughout his education at Pola. He was an avid attendant of political clubs across political spectrum, including the Young Conservatives, Future of Progress, and XXXX. In 2016, he took classes as a guest student at XXXX. In 2016, he participated in the Annual Pola–Senturium Trireme Match. He graduated in 2016.

As heir apparent

In 2013, his uncle Ambroise died during the Elissa IV bridge bombing, perpetrated by the Alliance for New Judea. This resulted in Gabriel succeeding Ambroise as heir apparent and Hereditary Prince, due to Montgisene male-only succession laws. As part of his duties as Hereditary Prince, Gabriel began to represent his grandfather Joscelin V at royal court in Ostracine.

Haut Cour appointment

In 2017, Gabriel was appointed to the Haut Court as a Queen's Councillor. In this role, he is reported to advise Queen Melisende III on matters relating to Parliament, domain governance, and general political affairs.

Personal life

Gabriel is said to be protective of his privacy among court insiders in Ostracine and as a result little is known of his personality aside from a handful of interests. He is a football fan, and regularly plays polo – since 2015, he has participated in a charitable polo match sponsored by now Latin Emperor Constantine XX.

Courtships and marriage

His first reported courtship briefly reached headlines in Sydalon when he was believed to be courting then Melisende, Princess of Petra in summer 2017. Rumors of the courtship ending began to arise in December 2017.

In 2018, the spokespersons from the Prince of Montgisard and Royal Household announced that Gabriel and Princess Riona of Gelonia were engaged. They were married on 20 May 2018, at Sephory Castle, in Montgisard. Currently he and Riona reside in Ostracine, and have two child, Marie-Louise and Zidore.
