'''Prince Leo of Ghant and Latium''' (''Leo John Robert Aurelius''; b. 31 August 1991) commonly known as Prince Leo, is the oldest child of [[John, Crown Prince of Ghant]] and [[Isabella of Latium|Princess Isabella of Latium]]. At the time of his birth, Leo was third in line to the [[Obsidian Throne]]; he remains third. Leo is eleventh in the [[Succession to the Latin throne|line of succession to the Latin throne]].

'''Prince Leo of Ghant''' (''Leo John Robert Aurelius''; b. 31 August 1990) commonly known as '''Prince Leo''', is third child and second son of [[John IV of Ghant]] and [[Isabella of Latium|Princess Isabella of Latium]]. At the time of his birth, Leo was third in line to the [[Obsidian Throne]]; he is currently fifth.

Leo resided in Ghish from his birth until the death of his grandfather [[Albert I of Ghant]], after which he was {{wp|Writ of attainder|attained}} and expelled from [[Ghant]] along with his mother and sisters. Leo and his family would reside in Latium following his expulsion from Ghant and was given the honorary title <nowiki>"Prince in Latium".</nowiki> He is the first member of the immediate Ghantish line of succession to be both {{wp|Roman Catholic Church|Fabrian Catholic}} and foreign raised. His attainder was lifted in Ghant in 2006 by his half-brother [[Nathan IV of Ghant|Nathan]].
Born at Empress Elena Hospital, in Ghish, Leo was educated at Sanctus Michaelis, in [[Castellum]], and later underwent officer training and university studies at [[Academia Militaris Olympia]]. While at Olympia, he studied international strategy and participated in the Leadership Development Program. Following his graduation he was commissioned as a Captain in the [[Ghantish Army]], and served as a [[wikipedia:military attaché|defense attaché]] at the Ghantish Embassy in Castellum. Later, Leo served alongside Latin Armed Forces, and the [[List of Latin legions#Active legions|4th legion]] before he took a leave of absence in 2017.

Leo is a graduate of [[Academia Militaris Olympia]] in Latium where he studied international strategy and participated Leadership Development program. At his graduation he was commissioned as a Captain, and before he took a leave of absence in 2017 held the rank of {{wp|General (United Kingdom)|Cataptan}} in the [[Latin Army]]. He was a key figure in the [[Latin succession crisis of 2016|2016 succession crisis]], serving as a key commander in the armies of his cousin, [[Constantine XX of Latium]]. Leo was named Cataptan of all Latin forces in Byzantion early in the military standoff, providing tremendous pressure to the armies loyal to [[Michael, Prince of Latium|Prince Michael]] from the north. Leo is credited for the peaceful surrender of Prince Michael's loyalists in [[Ravenna]], where his forces own dealt a crushing defeat to Prince Michael's military and remaining domestic support.
In spring 2018, he was appointed [[Privy Council of Ghant|Imperial Justiciar of Ghant]]. His tenure as Justiciar saw an increase in investigations and prosecutions into corruption among Ghantish imperial courtiers and officials.
==Early Life==
Leo was born at Empress Elena Hospital, in [[Ghish]], [[Ghant]] on 31 August 1990. He is the third child of [[John IV of Ghant]] and [[Isabella of Latium|Princess Isabella of Latium]]. He was named Leo for his grandfather [[Leo X Claudius]] and John for his father. His birth was celebrated in Ghant and in Latium. Leo was baptized into the [[Church of Ghant]], on 20 January 1991. His godparents are X, Y; then [[Jacobus VI Augustus of Latium|Jacobus, Prince of Youth]] (his mother's brother); and [[Stephania, Princess of Youth|Stephania Pinaria]] (Jacobus's wife). He and his siblings were raised at the Imperial Palace, in Ghish during the reign of his grandfather. At court, Leo was known as an active, lively, and willful child.

From 2004 to 2018, Leo spent most of his time in Latium under the supervision of his uncle [[Jacobus VI Claudius|Emperor Jacobus VI Claudius]]. Due to his father’s medical conditions, Leo and his family often spent much of winter in the Periclean region, including [[Montgisard]], [[Gran Aligonia]] and the Latin island of [[Mariana]].
==Education==
Initially, Leo's father hired tutors from both Ghant and [[Latium]], particularly [[Perateia]], to educate Leo and his siblings. The most prominent of which was Pankratios Anemas. In 2004, Leo and his sister Theodora were sent to Latium for their education. While in Latium, Leo was under the care of his uncle, Emperor Jacobus VI Claudius, and resided in Castellum.

Leo previously served as [[Emperor's Council of Latium#Great Officers of State|Master of Offices]] from January through December 2017. His primary residence is Palatium Blachernae, outside of metropolitan [[Alexandria (Latium)|Alexandria]].
Leo’s education in Latium began at Lyceum Sanctus Michaelis, where he was placed in the same class as his cousin [[Maria of Latium|Princess Maria of Latium]]. Due to his education, Leo is fluent in [[Standard Latin language|Latin]], as well as his native [[Ghantish language|Ghantish]]. He also received lessons on [[wikipedia:English language|Arthuristan]], [[wikipedia:French language|Audonian]], and [[wikipedia:Tsakonian language|Perateian]].
==Early Life==
Leo was born at the Imperial Palace of Ghish on 31 August 1991, the second child of [[John, Crown Prince of Ghant|Crown Prince John of Ghant]] and his first by [[Isabella of Latium|Princess Isabella of Latium]]. He was named for his grandfather [[Prince Leo, Duke of Apennina]] and prolific ancestor [[Leo of Ghant]]. His birth was celebrated in Ghant, though was one of great controversy in his mother's home of Latium where he was mockingly called <nowiki>"Leo Gentry"</nowiki> by some conservative-leaning Latin based media outlets.

He was primarily raised in Ghish during his earliest years, and for some time still after the death of his father in April 1994. From 1994 until the death his grandfather [[Albert I of Ghant|Albert]], Leo would spend his time between his mother's private villa and the Palace in Ghish.
He then attended Lyceum Sanctus Michaelis for secondary school, earning his [[wikipedia:Baccalauréat|bac]] in 2007. He chose to forgo a gap year, and joined the [[Ghantish Army]], where he enrolled at [[Academia Militaris Olympia]] for officer training after being granted a foreign cadet exemption from his uncle. While at Olympia, he primarily studied international strategy and was a participant in the Leadership Development Science program. He graduated in 2010 with a commission as a [[wikipedia:Captain (British Army and Royal Marines)|Captain]] in the Ghantish Army.
===Controversy===
Prior to his birth, the Fabrian Catholic Church excommunicated his mother following her intentions to marry John against both the wishes of her parents, and Church leadership. On temporal grounds, her marriage was rejected by Imperial Marriages Act section of the Acts of Succession. This disqualified her and her children of any place in the line of succession at the time. The Church asserted that the marriage was illegitimate due to his father being already married to [[Caroline Zuria]].
===Expulsion from Ghant===
On 19 May 1997, Leo's paternal grandfather, Emperor Albert of Ghant, passed away, with the throne falling to Leo's elder half-brother [[Nathan IV of Ghant|Nathan]]. Nathan was nine years old at the time, resulting in a regency led by their uncle [[Albert I of Vorindeum|Prince Albert]]. One of the first actions of this regency was to issue an {{wp|attainder}} against Leo and his sisters, [[Diana of Ghant and Latium|Diana]] and [[Theodora of Ghant and Latium|Theodora]], and banished them from the country along with their mother. Reports from former household employees of Princess Isabella claim that she and her children were awoken in the middle of the night by Ser Adrasto Minazar, captain of Isabella's personal guard. By the time the news of the attainder and banishment had reached Isabella and her children, they were already on their way to the airport.

Word of Emperor Albert's death and the subsequent actions taken against Leo and his family quickly reached Latium and even [[Prince Leo, Duke of Apennina]], who had been in flight from Castellum to [[Palatium Supranio]] in Adrianople. Emperor Leo's flight made an emergency landing in Oea, after he suffered a heart attack and died en route to the hospital. [[Jason Augustus|Emperor Jason VI]] was elevated to co-ruler by his mother [[Diana Augusta]] on 20 May, as she too was rumored to have her own health scare. As his first act as Emperor, Jason personally welcomed Leo, Diana, Theodora and their mother, Isabella, to Latium on 20 May 1997 at Diana Augusta International Airport in [[Castellum ab Alba|metropolitan Castellum]].
==Military Career==
[[File:Leo of Ghant and Latium.jpg|thumb|right|180px|Prince Leo at an Imperial court event in 2015.]]Leo received his military training at [[Academia Militaris Olympia]], Latium’s main military service academy. He was first enrolled as a cadet in 2009, and during his first year participated in the Student Conference on Belisarian Affairs as his primary extracurricular activity. After undergoing training and schooling for three years at Olympia, Leo was commissioned on 1 June 2012 as a Captain in the Ghantish army. Following his commission, Leo sought active service, but instead his brother assigned him to the Ghantish Embassy, in Castellum, as a [[wikipedia:military attaché|defense attaché]] where he served as a liaison with Latin Imperial court. Serving in this role from 2012 to 2014, Leo was regularly at the Palace of Augustus, and worked in close cooperation with Latin officials on matters of [[Ghantish-Latin relations]]. In 2016, Leo was named a military tribune by his uncle – the first to either a foreign national or foreign-born prince in nearly 300 years. Leo was put on leave in early January 2017, and remains a member of the army reserve.

The Catholic Church was quick protest the new Latin emperor's decision to allow the children entry, as their mother had been excommunicated for having claimed to have taken part in a polygamous marriage. The day after their arrival, Jason introduced the children to court and restored his sister's place as a Princess of Latium. Having been stripped of his titles and succession rights in Ghant, Leo was named <nowiki>"Prince in Latium,"</nowiki> with a similar title granted to his sister. This was fully distinct from a Prince of Latium, and <nowiki>"created to affirm [each child's] status as a foreign royal in Latium"</nowiki>. This proclamation has never officially been rescinded following the restoration of his rights in Ghant. Leo continued to hold the status of a <nowiki>''Prince in Latium''</nowiki> until September 2016 when he was made a <nowiki>''Prince of Latium''</nowiki> by [[Jason Augustus|Jason VI Augustus']] last will and testament.
==Perateian Synedrion==
In 2015, Leo was appointed to the Perateian Synedrion by his cousin [[Constantine XX Claudius|Emperor Constantine XII Claudius]]. His role on the Synedrion was undefined early on, but he was one of Constantine's chief advisors during his early reign as junior emperor. Leo later oversaw the creation of the [[Local Council (Perateia)|Local Council]], and served as its chairman in the emperor's absence.

Leo's excommunication, along with his mother and sister, was lifted by Pope Benedict VIII in late May 1997.
Leo resigned from his post on 11 July 2016.
==Education==
==Ghantish Privy Council==
While in Ghish, Leo's father John hired tutors from both Ghant and Latium, particularly [[Byzantion]], to educate Leo and his sisters. The most prominent of which was Pankratios Anemas, whom would later be hired as a tutor for both Leo and his cousin [[Constantine XX of Latium|Constantine]] upon Leo's arrival in Latium. Due to his education, he is fluent in [[Ghantish language|Ghantish]], Latin, {{wp|Griko dialect|Byzantic Hellene}} and {{wp|English language|Allamunnic}}, though is reported to consider Greek his favored tongue. Leo also received martial training from Ser Adrasto Minazar, a Ghantish knight who remains close with the family to this day.
===Imperial Justiciar===
In spring 2017, Leo was appointed [[Privy Council of Ghant|Imperial Justiciar of Ghant]] by his half-brother, [[Nathan IV of Ghant|Emperor Nathan IV]]. Prior to his appointment, he held a seat on the Ghantish Privy Council as an Adjunct since 2006, but had been absent from court since 2015. Since becoming Justiciar, Leo has removed many of his predecessor's appointments and installed his own subordinates. He has made an effort to target corruption in Ghantish imperial court, and has authorized the investigation and arrest of a number of court officials.

Upon the insistence of his uncle Jason, Leo was enrolled at St. Michael's for primary and secondary schooling. He finished secondary school at St. Michael's in 2009. He chose to forgo a gap year, and enlisted in the [[Latin Army]] where he enrolled at [[Academia Militaris Olympia]]. While at Olympia, he primarily studied international strategy and was a participant in the prestigious Leadership Development Science program. He graduated in 2013 with a commission as a {{wp|Lieutenant colonel (United Kingdom)|Centurion}}.
Despite prioritizing an anti-corruption agenda, he has numerous critics at court and in Ghant who have denounced his liberal use of Imperial Marshals to carry out arrests. The most notable of these critics is his cousin, [[Cassandra of Ghant|Princess Cassandra]], who has pardoned a number of those who have been arrested and prosecuted. These pardons are said to have caused an ever growing rift at court between the various factions. In 2019, reports circulated that Leo offered his resignation to his brother [[Nathan IV of Ghant|Emperor Nathan IV]]; however a spokesperson from the Justicar's office stated that the report was "unfounded."
==Military Career==
===Imperial Manus===
[[File:Leo of Ghant and Latium.jpg|thumb|right|180px|Prince Leo at event in 2015.]]Leo received his military training at [[Academia Militaris Olympia]] in Olympia, [[Latium]], the premier national military service academy. He was first enrolled as a cadet in 2009, and during his first year participated in the Student Conference on [[Belisarian Community|BC Affairs]] as his primary extracurricular activity. After undergoing training and schooling for four years at Olympia, Leo was commissioned on 1 June 2013 as a {{wp|Captain (British Army and Royal Marines)|Decurion}}. Following his commission, Leo sough active service but joined a detachment of 4th Legion, stationed in Kalymnos, near Leonopolis on a joint BC military installation. From April 2014 until June 2015, Leo spent time with a cohort of the 4th legion in [[Vannois]] along the Vannoisian-Liothidian border. Leo participated in numerous military exercises while stationed with the [[Legio IV Triumphalis|4th Legion]], including war games with Belisarian allies. By May 2016, Leo was promoted to {{wp|Colonel (United Kingdom)|Tribunus}} (Military Tribune) and re-stationed to Utica. He was put on leave in early January 2017, and remains a member of legionary reserve.
Leo was appointed Imperial Manus, charged with the administration and the premier office of the Ghantish Imperial court, replacing his cousin [[Cassandra of Ghant|Princess Cassandra]].
==2016 succession crisis==
==Personal life==
Leo was a prominent figure throughout the [[Latin succession crisis of 2016|2016 succession crisis]]. On 3 November 2016, he was present at the Palace of Augustus in the immediate aftermath of the death of Emperor [[Jason Augustus|Jason VI Augustus]] and subsequent coup by his cousin [[Michael, Prince of Latium|Prince Michael]] and the {{wp|Gendarmerie|Scholarian Guard}}. Along with Emperor [[Constantine XX of Latium|Constantine XX]] and the rest of his family, Leo was forced to flee from the capital and retreat to [[Adrianople]] by Praetorian bodyguards. Reports as to Leo's dealings after having reached Adrianople are hazy, though he reappeared in [[Alexandria (Latium)|Alexandria]] soon after where he met with prominent leaders in the Byzantion counties, including peers such as Konstantinos Palaiologi-Oriundi, 17th Doux Palaiologi, Xene Doukas-Mouzalon (wife of The Doux of Doukas); Byzantion politicians [[Anna Kinnamos]] and [[Leon Dalassenos]]; and local military leaders such as Strategos Niketas Argyros. At the meeting, Leo was able to gather civilian and military support from the Byzantion counties for his cousin, Emperor Constantine XX. Leo was appointed {{wp|General (United Kingdom)|Cataptan}} of all Latin forces in Byzantion on 8 November 2016, which is the accepted date of the Alexandrian meeting.
Little is known of Prince Leo's personal life. The most widely known fact of Leo's personal life is that he and Emperor [[Constantine XX of Latium|Constantine XX]] are close friends; Leo was the best man at Constantine's wedding in December 2017. Leo is a known football fan, and is a fan of [[Liga Premier]] side Imperialis Ianiculum. Along with his military training, Leo is known to be trained at traditional arms, though his swordsmanship skills remain largely unknown. He came into possession of the [[Arragaran steel]] sword Lokatz.

Leo and his forces in support of [[Constantine XX of Latium|Emperor Constantine XX]] converged upon Leonopolis before setting out to march on the capital. These forces set out for county Sorrentia and Ravenna on 17 November 2016. His armies were met with poor weather, causing a historic flood of the Frusina River and delayed the Byzantion legions. Leo's armies had been delayed while the allied Vannoisian forces passed through Espo and battled with the minimal armies loyal to [[George Caprenius|George, Count Vinovium]].
In February 2018, Leo came into ownership of Palatium Blachernae, in Blachernae, Latium. It is his primary residence in Latium, though he maintains an apartment at various Imperial residences, including the Palace of Augustus.
===Courtships===
Rumors of relationship between Leo and [[Anna Kinnamina]], now a Latin Senator, extend as far back as secondary school. The first instance of this was when the pair attended end of the year formal together at Sanctus Michaelis in 2008 and 2009. Over the years, the two have been spotted together at numerous events, state functions, and even in the public sphere. In 2010, Leo briefly courted XXXX, and from 2014 to 2015 courted [[Antonia Antistia]].

His army was encamped just south of Espo during the [[Latin succession crisis of 2016#Attack on the Ghantish Embassy|attack on the Ghantish Embassy]] and subsequent rescue of Leo's sister, [[Theodora of Ghant and Latium|Princess Theodora]], on 22 November 2016. After securing the safety of his younger sister and her arrival in Ghish the next day, Leo's forces began to mobilize for [[Ravenna]] and the army loyal to [[Michael, Prince of Latium|Prince Michael]] before marching on [[Castellum]].
In summer 2014, Leo traveled to the [[Izotza|Kingdom of Izotza]], in [[Ghant]], to court [[Izolde I of Izotza|Queen Izolde I]] at the request of his brother. Leo knew little of Izolde at the time and according to those at Ghantish court, she was eager for Leo's arrival. Leo remained in Izotza for a week upon his first visit. Leo frequented Izotza between 2015.
===Surrender of Ravenna===
===Entering Castellum===
==Emperor's Council appointment==
Leo was appointed [[Emperor's Council of Latium#Great Officers of State|Master of Offices]] on 5 January 2017. The same day, Leo was made Propraetor of Falisca, and Sorrentia – both key counties located near [[Castellum]]. Throughout his tenure as Master of Office, Leo participated in Imperial duties on behalf of Emperor Constantine, which have included serving as the presiding officer of the [[Ludi Circenses|2017 Ludi Circenses]], participation in state visits, and even a limited amount of investitures when Emperor Constantine was indisposed or unavailable. [[File:Prince Leo at Ludi Circenses.jpg|thumb|right|180px|Leo spectating the chariot races during the [[Ludi Circenses|2018 Ludi Circenses]].]]

Leo resigned as Master of Offices after he announced his paternity of an {{wp|Legitimacy (family law)|illegitimate child}} on 21 December 2017.
[[File:Getty villa, peristilio esterno 11.JPG|thumb|left|180px|Leo became the owner of Palatium Blachernae in 2018.]]

==Personal life and character==
==Marriage==
Little is known of Prince Leo's personal life. The most widely known fact of Leo's personal life is that he and Emperor [[Constantine XX of Latium|Constantine XX]] are close friends; Leo was the best man at Constantine's wedding in December 2017. However, rumors have been rampant of a number of years regarding a relationship between Leo and [[Anna Kinnamos]], a sitting Latin Senator since 2015, as far back as secondary school. The first instance of this was when the pair attended end of the year formal together at St. Michael's Preparatory in 2008 and 2009. Over the years, the two have been spotted together at numerous events, state functions, and even in the public sphere. The two had reportedly separated sometime in 2015 or 2016.
In February 2016, Leo traveled to Keld to obtain approve to court with [[Lucia of Keld]]. The courtship was confirmed in April 2016. They became engaged on 12 July 2016, with an official announcement by the Ghantish Imperial Court a week later.

In February 2017, Leo and [[Lena Rouanti]] were seen together by paparazzi at the Ristorante Ebor in Castellum, resulting in speculation the two were dating. This speculation grew when Leo traveled to the Gelonian counties as part of his duties as Master of Offices, including Lena's hometown of Durnovaria. Neither publicly commented on the rumored relationship.
Leo resigned his post in [[Perateia]] following the announcement of the engagement, and the couple resided together at the Imperial Palace, in Ghish, thereafter. He was subsequently appointed to the office of Imperial Justiciar by his brother Emperor Nathan. Leo and Joanna were married on 19 October 2016, at the [[Ghish|Ghish Cathedral]], upon which Leo was granted an estate in [[Ghant#Administrative divisions|Low Ghant]] by his brother Emperor Nathan.
[[File:Kaiservilla_vorderansicht.jpg|thumb|left|180px|Leo became the owner of Palatium Blachernae in 2018.]]
===Children===
At the 2017 [[Ludi Circenses]], Leo was photographed with [[Lyncanestria|Lyncanestrian]] noblewoman [[Caroline, Countess of Winburn]] at show jumping and chariot racing events. Speculation began to mount among the media and royal circles that the two had begun courting. It wasn't until October 2017 that spokespersons for both Leo and Caroline confirmed a relationship. In November 2017, Leo attended the Endowment for the Arts charity gala in [[Beaupré]], which was hosted by Caroline. Though she attended the wedding of [[Constantine XX of Latium|Emperor Constantine XX]] on Leo's personal invitation, Leo's acknowledgement of an illegitimate son with unnamed woman in late December 2017 is believed to have placed a strain on his relationship.
Leo and Joanna had their first child, Constantine, on 18 October 2017. They announced that Joanna was expecting their second child in January 2020. Their second child, Philippa, was born on 4 July 2020. Lucia gave birth to the couple's third child on 12 November 2022.
Leo and Lucia have three children:
*[[Constantine of Ghant|Prince ''Constantine'' John Michael James]], born 9 September 2017 at Empress Elisabeth Hospital in Ghish.
*[[Philippa of Ghant|Princess ''Philippa'' Diana Christina Amelia]], born 4 July 2020 at Empress Elisabeth Hospital in Ghish.
*[[Peter of Ghant|Prince ''Peter'' James Robert William]], born 12 November 2022 at Empress Elisabeth Hospital in Ghish.

In February 2018, Leo came into ownership of Palatium Blachernae in Blachernae. It is his primary residence in Latium.

Leo is a Prince of Ghant by birth, based on his status as the second son of [[John, Crown Prince of Ghant|Crown Prince John of Ghant]] and a male-line member of [[House Gentry]]. While entitled to the rank of <nowiki>"prince"</nowiki> in Ghant, Leo had been referred to as <nowiki>"Leo Gentry"</nowiki> by the press in Latium, due to his status in the country as an illegitimate child, until he was made a <nowiki>"Prince in Latium"</nowiki> by [[Monarchy of Latium|Emperor]] [[Jason Augustus|Jason VI Augustus]]. Due to his royal birth, Leo does not use a surname for everyday purposes. According to classmates at [[Academia Militaris Olympia|Olympia]], Leo's cadet uniform listed his surname as <nowiki>"Ghant".</nowiki>
Leo is also entitled to the rank of <nowiki>"prince"</nowiki> with the territorial designation <nowiki>"of Latium"</nowiki> due a posthumous award of the rank and title by his uncle [[Jason Augustus|Jason VI Augustus]] in his last will and testament. Leo will drop his Latin territorial designation after his marriage when he is to receive the Dukedom of Ostia. He will be entitled to retain his Ghantish territorial designation, as will any of his descendants through the male line. This will be the fourth creation of the Dukedom of Ostia.; the most recent holder of this title was [[John XIII of Latium|Emperor John XIII]], becoming extinct in 1897 when it merged into the crown.
He is a Knight of the Order of the Ram, and holds Knight Commander of the Ancient Equestrian Order and Grand Cross of the Sacred Order of Felix. He is also a recipient of the Medal for Valor and holds Membership in the Most Ancient Praetorian Order. He is a member of the [[Emperor's Council of Latium|Emperor's Council]] and a {{wp|Personal aide-de-camp}} to the [[Monarchy of Latium|Emperor]].

Prince Leo of Ghant (Leo John Robert Aurelius; b. 31 August 1990) commonly known as Prince Leo, is third child and second son of John IV of Ghant and Princess Isabella of Latium. At the time of his birth, Leo was third in line to the Obsidian Throne; he is currently fifth.

Born at Empress Elena Hospital, in Ghish, Leo was educated at Sanctus Michaelis, in Castellum, and later underwent officer training and university studies at Academia Militaris Olympia. While at Olympia, he studied international strategy and participated in the Leadership Development Program. Following his graduation he was commissioned as a Captain in the Ghantish Army, and served as a defense attaché at the Ghantish Embassy in Castellum. Later, Leo served alongside Latin Armed Forces, and the 4th legion before he took a leave of absence in 2017.

In spring 2018, he was appointed Imperial Justiciar of Ghant. His tenure as Justiciar saw an increase in investigations and prosecutions into corruption among Ghantish imperial courtiers and officials.

Early Life

Leo was born at Empress Elena Hospital, in Ghish, Ghant on 31 August 1990. He is the third child of John IV of Ghant and Princess Isabella of Latium. He was named Leo for his grandfather Leo X Claudius and John for his father. His birth was celebrated in Ghant and in Latium. Leo was baptized into the Church of Ghant, on 20 January 1991. His godparents are X, Y; then Jacobus, Prince of Youth (his mother's brother); and Stephania Pinaria (Jacobus's wife). He and his siblings were raised at the Imperial Palace, in Ghish during the reign of his grandfather. At court, Leo was known as an active, lively, and willful child.

From 2004 to 2018, Leo spent most of his time in Latium under the supervision of his uncle Emperor Jacobus VI Claudius. Due to his father’s medical conditions, Leo and his family often spent much of winter in the Periclean region, including Montgisard, Gran Aligonia and the Latin island of Mariana.

Education

Initially, Leo's father hired tutors from both Ghant and Latium, particularly Perateia, to educate Leo and his siblings. The most prominent of which was Pankratios Anemas. In 2004, Leo and his sister Theodora were sent to Latium for their education. While in Latium, Leo was under the care of his uncle, Emperor Jacobus VI Claudius, and resided in Castellum.

Leo’s education in Latium began at Lyceum Sanctus Michaelis, where he was placed in the same class as his cousin Princess Maria of Latium. Due to his education, Leo is fluent in Latin, as well as his native Ghantish. He also received lessons on Arthuristan, Audonian, and Perateian.

He then attended Lyceum Sanctus Michaelis for secondary school, earning his bac in 2007. He chose to forgo a gap year, and joined the Ghantish Army, where he enrolled at Academia Militaris Olympia for officer training after being granted a foreign cadet exemption from his uncle. While at Olympia, he primarily studied international strategy and was a participant in the Leadership Development Science program. He graduated in 2010 with a commission as a Captain in the Ghantish Army.

Military Career

File:Leo of Ghant and Latium.jpg

Leo received his military training at Academia Militaris Olympia, Latium’s main military service academy. Following his commission, Leo sought active service, but instead his brother assigned him to the Ghantish Embassy, in Castellum, as a defense attaché where he served as a liaison with Latin Imperial court. Serving in this role from 2012 to 2014, Leo was regularly at the Palace of Augustus, and worked in close cooperation with Latin officials on matters of Ghantish-Latin relations. In 2016, Leo was named a military tribune by his uncle – the first to either a foreign national or foreign-born prince in nearly 300 years. Leo was put on leave in early January 2017, and remains a member of the army reserve.

Perateian Synedrion

In 2015, Leo was appointed to the Perateian Synedrion by his cousin Emperor Constantine XII Claudius. His role on the Synedrion was undefined early on, but he was one of Constantine's chief advisors during his early reign as junior emperor. Leo later oversaw the creation of the Local Council, and served as its chairman in the emperor's absence.

Leo resigned from his post on 11 July 2016.

Ghantish Privy Council

Imperial Justiciar

In spring 2017, Leo was appointed Imperial Justiciar of Ghant by his half-brother, Emperor Nathan IV.

Despite prioritizing an anti-corruption agenda, he has numerous critics at court and in Ghant who have denounced his liberal use of Imperial Marshals to carry out arrests. The most notable of these critics is his cousin, Princess Cassandra, who has pardoned a number of those who have been arrested and prosecuted. These pardons are said to have caused an ever growing rift at court between the various factions. In 2019, reports circulated that Leo offered his resignation to his brother Emperor Nathan IV; however a spokesperson from the Justicar's office stated that the report was "unfounded."

Imperial Manus

Leo was appointed Imperial Manus, charged with the administration and the premier office of the Ghantish Imperial court, replacing his cousin Princess Cassandra.

Personal life

Little is known of Prince Leo's personal life. The most widely known fact of Leo's personal life is that he and Emperor Constantine XX are close friends; Leo was the best man at Constantine's wedding in December 2017. Leo is a known football fan, and is a fan of Liga Premier side Imperialis Ianiculum. Along with his military training, Leo is known to be trained at traditional arms, though his swordsmanship skills remain largely unknown. He came into possession of the Arragaran steel sword Lokatz.

In February 2018, Leo came into ownership of Palatium Blachernae, in Blachernae, Latium. It is his primary residence in Latium, though he maintains an apartment at various Imperial residences, including the Palace of Augustus.

Courtships

Rumors of relationship between Leo and Anna Kinnamina, now a Latin Senator, extend as far back as secondary school. The first instance of this was when the pair attended end of the year formal together at Sanctus Michaelis in 2008 and 2009. Over the years, the two have been spotted together at numerous events, state functions, and even in the public sphere. In 2010, Leo briefly courted XXXX, and from 2014 to 2015 courted Antonia Antistia.

In summer 2014, Leo traveled to the Kingdom of Izotza, in Ghant, to court Queen Izolde I at the request of his brother. Leo knew little of Izolde at the time and according to those at Ghantish court, she was eager for Leo's arrival. Leo remained in Izotza for a week upon his first visit. Leo frequented Izotza between 2015.

Leo became the owner of Palatium Blachernae in 2018.

Marriage

In February 2016, Leo traveled to Keld to obtain approve to court with Lucia of Keld. The courtship was confirmed in April 2016. They became engaged on 12 July 2016, with an official announcement by the Ghantish Imperial Court a week later.

Leo resigned his post in Perateia following the announcement of the engagement, and the couple resided together at the Imperial Palace, in Ghish, thereafter. He was subsequently appointed to the office of Imperial Justiciar by his brother Emperor Nathan. Leo and Joanna were married on 19 October 2016, at the Ghish Cathedral, upon which Leo was granted an estate in Low Ghant by his brother Emperor Nathan.

Children

Leo and Joanna had their first child, Constantine, on 18 October 2017. They announced that Joanna was expecting their second child in January 2020. Their second child, Philippa, was born on 4 July 2020. Lucia gave birth to the couple's third child on 12 November 2022. Leo and Lucia have three children:
