Brecken Connaly Gray is a Zamastanian politician and diplomat who served as the 55th Secretary of State under President Atticus Moreau, having replaced Jessiah Vallotis following his resignation on 13 April 2022. Prior to his position in the Department of State, Gray served as a Congressman representing Pahl's 11th district from 2000-2010 and later served under President Cassious Castovia as the ambassador to Emmiria from 2010-2015. He served as the ambassador to the Coalition of Crown Albatross under Zacharias Castovia. He served as a national security advisor for both Presidents Anya Bishop and Foley Sakzi.

During his time in Congressional Hall, Gray advocated for lowering the national tax rate, increasing military spending, and lowering the cap on immigration acceptance rates. He served as the head of the Congress' Foreign Relations Committee from 2006-2010. As a member of the State Department, Gray advocated for both the 1999-2005 war in Vulkaria and the 2020 intervention in Ossinia, but opposed Zamastanian aerial intervention in West Chanchajilla during the 2021 conflict, a campaign which Moreau ordered. He supported the 2013 nuclear deal with Zalluabed, which was temporarily withdrawn from by President Bishop and reinstated under President Moreau.

Early life and education

Gray was born on October 28, 1956, in Glades, Pahl, to Shoassauan World War refugees Judell and Dautree Gray, who later served as Ambassador to Quetana. Gray's uncle, Alan Gray, served as the ambassador to Vitosium. Gray attended Tess University from 1974 to 1978, where he majored in social studies. He co-edited Tess's daily student newspaper, The Tess Crimson, and wrote a number of articles on current affairs. After graduating from Tess, Gray worked as an intern for the Tofino Times for about a year. He practiced law in Tofino and Piva, Durnstaal. Gray worked with his father Dautree to raise funds for Cassious Castovia in his 1986 reelection bid, which he lost.
