Placely Placington participated in the WorldVision Song Contest thirty-two times since its debut in WorldVision 80. The country is one of the least successful to take part in the contest, having never finished in the top half of the contest. They were also the first country to get nul points in the televote era when, in WorldVision 98, E Oe failed to finish with a single point from either the juries or the televotes for their song "Uoiauai". They have also never hosted the contest, although the capital city of Citysburgh has sent out three unsuccessful bids to host.
In the lead-up to WorldVision 113, regular contestant and Chief President Man of Placely Placington Dave McDaverson announced that the country will be going on an indefinite hiatus following the end of the contest, although he has stated that they will return at some unspecified point in the future.
