Ix Ik' Jol (born 28 June 1789, died 8 September 1828) more often known as Lady Ik' Jol or by the direct translation of her name : Lady Wind-Skull, was the K'uhul Ajaw of the Mutul between the death of her younger brother in 1820 and her own murder in 1828. Her only child, the future B'alijaj Chan K'awiil II, was still too young to fully take the throne and was thus placed under the regency of his father and King Consort : Itzamnaaj B'alam. Ik' Jol rules took place at a time of precarious changes for the Divine Kingdom, which was losing grounds on all fronts to powerful rivals, from the Latin Empire to the First Republic of Tsurushima and the reborn Kayahallpa. Her suspected role in the death of her predecessor and younger brother Wahlam B'alam VI, the use of her connections with the military, through her husband Itzamnaaj B'alam, to strongarm the nobility of the country to accept her rule, and her many attempt to reform the Mutul made her deeply unpopular with K'alak Muul and Yu elites, leading to her death, pursued by a clique of conspirators inside the Chak Yaxnah Hokan before being cornered to and then pushed off a balcony. Her husband and son managed to escape a similar fate, and fled K'alak Muul for Kuhmahkah where they organised their resistance against their political opponents, leading directly to the Sajal War, the most brutal civil war of the Mutul history.
