The Radical Communist Rally (French reformed: Rassemblement communiste radicale), abbreviated RCR, is a Gylian political party, part of the Revolutionary Rally bloc.

History

The Radical Communist Rally was established in 1956, by authoritarian socialists and communists who had been purged during the Lucian Purge. Its name reflected its statist leanings and disdain for the Democratic Communist Party, whom they lambasted as opportunists and revisionists.

The party performed poorly in the 1958 federal election, winning 5% of the vote and 16 seats. After electoral reform, it took the initiative in forming the Revolutionary Rally.

It was marginalised during the Golden Revolution, with poor election results and a reputation as "old left dinosaurs", fixated on economics and reactionary on social issues.

The RR shockingly finished joint first in the 1976 federal election, aided by the Progressive Alliance's disarray after Aliska Géza's death and Aén Ďanez seizing the left-wing populist approach and support base of the defunct Movement for Emancipation and Democracy. After a month-long impasse, they formed a coalition with the PA.

The Aén Ďanez government was marred by bitterness between the RR and PA, and it was a main cause of the wretched decade. It managed to cling to office, reduced to a minority in 1983, until the Ossorian war crisis of 1986, when the opposition banded together and formed the Filomena Pinheiro government.

The Filomena Pinheiro government launched a concerted crackdown on authoritarianism, which combined with public revulsion at the wretched decade, destroyed the RR as a political force. It lost all its seats in the 1990 federal election, and has not held any office since.

Ideology

The RCR represents the putschist and authoritarian formation of the RR.

Symbols

The RCR uses a dark shade of red as its official colour.
