Retikh (pronounced /ˈrɛtɪx/), officially the Principality of Retikh (Trellinese: Lametha Retiqa), is a province of the Trellinese Empire. It is the fifth-most populous province in Trellin and Hysera and the fourth largest by total area.
Clockwise from the northwest, Retikh borders Arimathea, Lekhmir, Fymona, Ja'ekha, the Sea of Velar, Pelna and Saheri. It has a population of 16,951,889 and covers a total area of roughly 135,000 square kilometres. The provincial capital is at Zarthalin, on the coast.
Geography
Retikh is one of the largest provinces in the Trellinese Empire, and encompasses a variety of climatic and geographic zones. Perhaps the most prominent is the Vekra Retiqa, a large mountain chain that runs from central Emla, arcing southward around Arimathea and splitting into two distinct subranges within Retikh; its northern arm reaches the Lekhmiri border with Sycoon, while the southern arm disappears into the Tambodi rainforest. The Serëtanz, Trellin's longest and most voluminous river, rises in a cave in the mountains. Rainforests fill the valleys between the two ranges and also stretch down towards the coast. To the east of the Vekra Retiqa is a substantial rain shadow, which has nevertheless been cultivated for centuries, transitioning into a savannah encompassing the frontier zones of Fymona and Lekhmir.
The province is framed, therefore, by the Vekra Retiqa to the north and northwest, by the river Flotir to the southeast, by the Sea of Velar to the south and by minor rivers in the southwest and east.
