The Humanist Party (French reformed: Parti humaniste), abbreviated HP (PH), is a Gylian political party, part of the Non-inscrits bloc.

Established in 1978, the HP is the main political vehicle for secular humanism in Gylian politics.

History

The HP was established in 1978 as the political arm of Gylias' main humanist association. It was formed in reaction to the Front for Renewal of Order and Society' use of religion as a wedge issue.

It obtained decent results during the wretched decade, and was part of the Filomena Pinheiro government. It has since receded to being one of the smaller non-inscrit parties.

Ideology

The HP is based on advocacy of humanism, secular humanism, and progressivism.

It is seen as broadly centrist to centre-left, and tends to largely align with the liberal bloc.

Despite ostensibly different stances on religion in politics, the HP and RJU have formed notably cooperative relations, particularly at the local level.

Symbols

The HP uses a shade of orange as its official colour.

Popular support

The HP is generally a small presence in federal elections, with slightly better support locally. It is mainly perceived as a junior partner in the broader liberal bloc.
