The 118th WorldVision Song Contest is was held on X 2024/2025? in Valletta, Malta Comino Gozo. The show was organised by the International Broadcasting Alliance (IBA) and host broadcaster MCGBC. This was the second time the event was held in the Fed-Ex Forum, Valletta and the fourth time the contest was held in Malta Comino Gozo. Twenty five countries took part.
The winners were Rugenia with the song "Human" by Ira feat. Tanja, marking one hundred editions since their last win. This is the longest wait in between wins in WorldVision history. Hosts, Malta Comino Gozo finished runners up just seven points behind the eventual winners. Kalosia finished third, StrayaRoos achieved their best result to date placing fourth and Mister X rounded out the top five.
Host bidding
The ballot for host voting was conducted between 2nd - 9th December 2024 among member broadcasters participating in the 118th edition of the WorldVision Song Contest. Only one country expressed interest in hosting the event so therefore by default the contest was awarded to Malta Comino Gozo
Host city
Valletta, Malta Comino Gozo
MCGBC and the local council of Valletta submitted a bid to host the contest in the capital and largest city, Valletta, Malta Comino Gozo as well as numerous events held across the city and in various towns across the country. Valletta is located just 5 miles from the International Airport and with various transport links to the surrounding area and other islands.
The contest would be hosted at the Fed-Ex Forum located in the Lafayette District of Valletta with a total capacity of 17,800 spectators, it is the largest indoor arena in the country with experience in hosting several major sport and music events such as WorldVision Song Contest 85.
The Valletta City Council, in collaboration with the host broadcaster, organised various events across the country that extended beyond a the competition, showcasing the unique character of each town while uniting them through music and creativity.
Valletta served as the epicenter, hosting the main show alongside festive Christmas-themed activities, including the WorldVision Film Festival in Valletta Old Town, which featured music documentaries, past performances, and local short films. Historical re-enactments and live music brought the iconic cobbled plaza outside St. Mark's Cathedral to life. The Kingdom/Clock Tower Square Fan Zone offered large-screen viewing, food stalls, and vibrant community energy, while the Grand Harbour Fireworks Display synchronised with WorldVision-winning songs illuminated the Mediterranean sky nightly.
Outside Valletta:
- Għallieħa held an artisan fair featuring local crafts, traditional delicacies, and performances along its hiking trails.
- Tas-Faqqani, a seaside hub, transformed into a nightlife hotspot with after-parties, DJ performances, and rooftop fan zones offering panoramic views.
- Santa Luċija complemented Tas Faqqani with fairy-lit street parties, food stalls, and acoustic performances.
- Balluħa hosted family-friendly events, including music workshops, interactive installations, and a light show at the Church Square, with the Parish Church illuminated in WorldVision colours.
Participating countries
A total of 25 countries participated at the 118th edition of the contest in Valletta, Malta Comino Gozo, with countries such as Aenglide, Darkmania, Hafamarimët, Polkopia, Robloxian Robloxia, Sarawak Darulhana, and Unclear returning to the contest since their absence in the edition prior.
The 115th contest also saw debuts from countries such as Banou, Carpenia and Epic Banana.
