The Centre of Constitutional Monarchists (French reformed: Centre des monarchistes constitutionelles), abbreviated CCM (CMC), is a Gylian political party, part of the Centre Group bloc.

History

The Centre of Constitutional Monarchists was formed in 1960, and subsequently joined the Centre Group.

During the 1960s, it gained fame for leader Luiza Monteira's eccentric campaigning in favour of monarchism. She was a perennial candidate in every Gylian presidential election from the first until her death, and made great efforts to adapt the concept of a monarchy to Gylian preferences, which amusingly ended up resembling the actual presidency.

It joined Filomena Pinheiro's grand coalition cabinet after the Ossorian war crisis of 1986, its first participation in a federal government.

During the 1990s, the CCM took an ambiguous stance towards Mathilde Vieira's "plural coalition" — formally outside it, but providing support on occasion.

It joined the Lena Haidynraix government after the 2020 federal election.

Ideology

The CCM represents the conservative formation of the CG, based on advocacy of a constitutional monarchy. It supports the ideal of a term-limited, elective monarchy to serve as a figurehead and unifying institution, protecting Gylias' direct democracy
