The terms RU/ABP, the Centre, or Centre parties (Hesurian: Zentrumsparteien [ˈt͡sɛntʁʊmspaɐ̯ˈtaɪ̯ən]) refer to the two sister parties of the Rehunion (RU) and the Adwinian Citizens's Party (Aduhinische Bürgerpartei, ABP) in Mascylla. They establish a shared group in the Mascyllary Reichsrat, the RU/ABP group, otherwise known as the Central Fraction (Zentrumsfraktion). Members of both parties are sometimes referred to as the Union Centrists (Unionszentristen).
The union is derived from the Centre Party, a long-standing former major Mascyllary party being a catch-all party for centre to centre-right politics for much of Mascyllary history and an initial founder of the May Republic and subsequent Crowned Republic in 1924, with Peter Zeschtemann as its first Prime Minister being a Centre member.
Consequential infighting following the catastrophic results in 1996 general elections resulted in the Lancaide Agenda, re-establishing itself in order to appeal to a more modern populous. The parties formed then, the modern-day RU and ABP, signed a permanent contract to regain popularity in the Reichsrat and counter the growing strength of the Social Democratic Party. Since, they steadily re-emerged as one of the major blocs of Mascyllary politics.
The two parties are financially and structurally independent and legally completely separated. The ABP rejects election participation outside of Adwinia, while the RU is not present there. However, they form federal organizations, such as the Youth Union, and frequently partake in national coalition government, most recently with the current Falkner I cabinet under RU politician Thomas Falkner inaugurated in 2016.
