The Scandinavian Front, also known as The Great Patriotic War, among East Europans and Calvardians, and The Finest Years by many historians was a theatre of the Neocon War fought between the Heimdallr Council and the Neocon Forces. It encompassed the regions of the Erebonian Empire, Republic of Calvard, Crossbell State, the former Aurucolia, Remiferia, and Jutland-Gimli, and lasted from 12 July 2035 to 20 June 2038. The Scandinavian Front was decisive in determining the outcome of the entire war, eventually serving as the primary reason for the defeat of the Neocons and its allies. It has been widely accepted that 60 percent of all combat during the Neocon War took place on the Scandinavian Front.

The Neocon forces, led by the 5 Neocon nations consisting of Quenmin, Joyonghea, Bethausia, Concordia, and the Holy Trabian Empire, with support from the Neo-Seleucid Movement, began their advance into the Scandinavian regions from the east through the former Aurucolian region in 12 July 2035 across Calvard through Case Maroon and in the west through the Erebonian border during Operation Total. Initially, the Heimdallr forces struggled to halt the Neocons, with the combination of military might and the use of Seleucid artifacts, came close to Heimdallr. Despite their many attempts, the Neocons failed to capture Heimdallr and soon focused on the rich region of the Telemark to take control of the heavy water and oil refining industry of Erebonia before taking the capital for a second time. Neocon forces invaded the Telemark under Case Violet plan on 12 April 2036. The Heimdallr forces successfully halted further Neocon advance at Kongsberg — the bloodiest battle in the war — costing the Neocons their morale and regarded as one of the key turning points of the front.

The Neocons, at a show of desperation, in 2037 went ahead with the 3rd attempt of invading Erebonia, this time the route taken would be through the seemingly week Calvardian lowlands, which had already been invaded 2 years prior. This involved two operations, Operation Downfall which was designed by the Neocon 5, General Chang Gwan-mook, and disgraced Gallian General Harold Shepherd Roth to kidnap King Noctis Lucis Caelum and use the powers of the Greathammer against Heimdallr forces and assassinating the Heimdallr commander who had been responsible for blunting two of the Neocons previous attempts, Lucian Field Marshal Kiriya Kitagawa and Operation Landslide, which was the military offensive through the Calvardian lowlands and pushing into the Erebonian border. The attempt was carried out in 27 March 2038 and Kitagawa was declared "dead" by the Neocons while the King Noctis Lucis Caelum was kidnapped by members of the Neocon-aligned Gallian Alderney Group. The Neocons subsequently launched the invasion of the Calvardian lowlands. However, Kitagawa survived the attempt and subsequently moved to counteroperations against the Neocons in retaliation by assassinating Roth during Mission Hale and rescuing the King during Mission Breaking Point, which drove the Heimdallr forces to near annihilation. The King was freed from Neocon influence and Operation Downfall failed for the Neocons while Operation Landslide was taking place. The Neocon forces reached Eastern Erebonia and were only 70kms away from the capital until in 30 April when the news came to the Neocon leaders that Kitagawa had survived, which meant that retaliation was underway. The Neocons attempted to finish off the Erebonian Army through a major offensive to push further to the capital during the Battle of the Grand Granary, which turned their final push into a rout. By the first week of May, the Neocons were pushed back into Calvard and Eastern Liberl. By June, the Neocons only controlled the eastern areas of Calvard and after a final show of defence during Operation Daytime, the Neocon control over Calvard and Liberl finally ended, sealing the fate of Neocon ambitions in Scandinavia and began the long retreat and its subsequent defeat that was accelerated by the Kataibatic Event.

The battles on the Scandinavian Front of the Neocon War constituted the largest military confrontation of the 21st Century. In pursuit of the Neocons "cleansing" agenda, the Neocons waged a war of war of annihilation throughout Scandinavia. Those who resisted were captured and thrown into work camps while those who cooperated found themselves becoming a pawn. The campaign was characterised by vicious brutality, scorched-earth tactics, mass deportations, forced starvations, experimentations, and massacres.

The Neocons had expected a quick collapse of Heimdallr resistance, as with their other conquests. Despite the knowledge of the famed Erebonian Winter, they were confident that with the use of Seleucid artifacts and harnessing the power of the descendants, they would be able to overwhelm the Heimdallr forces and bring an end to the war. Much to their shock, the Heimdallr forces held their ground with fierce resistance, capitalising on some of the Neocons biggest blunder, which started with causing the 2025 Scandinavian Frost to attempting to assassinate and kidnap some of the most important Heimdallr figures, and bogged all of their 3 attempts to invade with Deep Penetration tactics and drawing most Neocon formations into urban areas, of which the latter were not equipped for while the Erebonian and Heimdallr forces specialised in. These contributed to the end of Neocon ambitions in Erebonia, and subsequently ending the public's belief in the myth of Seleucid invincibility.
