Operation Total was the codename for the Neocon Invasion of the Erebonian Empire, which started in 12 July 2035. The operation put into action the Neocons ideological goal of creating a world government dictated by their means, subjugating those who did not agree with their views, and knocking the Heimdallr Council out of the war by rendering its leading nation unable to wage war by subjugating the Erebonian countryside, which would force the Heimdallr forces to sue for peace and accept Neocon rule. In addition, Erebonia's occupation meant that the Neocons would be able to launch a seabourne invasion of Europa and the Lucis Isles. Their ultimate goal included the end of East Europa, purification of non-Neocon ideologies, and the extinction of Europa's ruling families.

The plan for the invasion of Erebonia involved activating several Selucid artifacts that would put the tide of the battle in favour of the Neocons. As a result, the Neocons activated the artifacts, including the Staff of Seleucus, which drastically plunged Erebonia without much sunlight. The plan called for the Erebonian populace to starve into surrender. However, the Heimdallr forces were well-prepared for the event and managed to stock up on supplies prior to the invasion. When this plan failed, the Neocons moved to the second phase, which was direct engagement whilst being supported by the Artifact's powers. Despite giving the Neocons somewhat of an advantage, the Heimdallr forces successfully shifted their strategy of waging an intense guerilla warfare behind enemy lines with the help of the East Europan Partisans who remained in Neocon-controlled East Europa to wage partisan warfare throughout the land and to cripple Neocon supply lines.

The Neocons were shocked that Erebonian resistance to invaders was high. The Erebonians adapted well into the thick forestation of their land. This caused the advance of the Neocons to slow down enough for the arrival of the Erebonian Winter. In addition, Erebonia's heavy forestry, as well as mountainous and rocky terrain favoured the Allies. Field Marshal Kiriya Kitagawa opted that the Allies must conduct a combination of Guerilla tactics and regular infantry attacks and raids to slow the Neocons in time for the Winter. Attempts were made by the Neocons to change and end the Erebonian Winter by the use of the Chronodotic Tablet. However, by November 2035, the power of the Tablet began to be too unstable that instead of doing the opposite, the Winter weather became worse and worse, causing the 2035 Scandinavian Frost with temperatures dropping to a −30 °C. This caused the Necon forces to stop short of the capital, Heimdallr. The Heimdallr forces would immediately launch a counteroffensive to force the Neocons to retreat from the Heimdallr province by 14 December 2035 with the Battle of Heimdallr and the subsequent Allied Winter Counteroffensive of 2035-2036.

The Neocons had confidently expected a quick collapse of Erebonian resistance as with the rest of their conquests with the help of the Seleucid artifacts, but the unstable energy caused by repeated abuse by the Neocons caused them to release one of the worst blizzards in history and the Heimdallr forces absorbed the Neocon forces strongest blows and capitalised on the strong blizzard, and bogged it down in a war of attrition, for which the Neocons were unprepared. The lack of food, winter clothing, and crippled supply lines meant that the Neocon's diminished forces could no longer attack along the entire Zemurian Front, which resulted in the Neocon Forces retreat and collapse.
