The Vinalian diaspora is the global community of Vinalians, especially those who maintain some kind of connection, even if ephemeral, to the land of their ancestors and maintain their feeling of Vinalian national identity within their own local community. The Vinalian diaspora has its origins following Vinalian Indepedence, but during the 1930s to 90's during the Vinalian Struggle it saw a great increase, reaching its peak in the 1970's. Today members of the diaspora can be found in the neighbors of Vinalia, such as Chistovodia, and Ardesia, along with Euclean countries like Soravia, Gaullica, Werania, and Etruria.

The Vinalian diaspora is found throughout numerous countries worldwide. It is particularly concentrated in other Soravian speaking countries such as Chistovodia, and Soravia. Its direct neighbors Ardesia, and Marchenia with most Vinalians in Chistovodia living near the border. With large populations in the Asterias in Rizealand, Eldmark, Cassier, Satucin, and Nuvania. In Euclea in Werania, Gaullica, Etruria, Caldia, Paretia, Estmere, Amathia, Kirenia, Scovern, and Champania. Small populations exist in Coius in Senria, Shangea, Lavana, Dezevau, and Ansan.

History

The history of the Vinalian diaspora starts following the independence of the country, as Chistovodian loyalists now by law citizens of Vinalia, moved towards Chistovodia. Its estimated close to 50,000 people made such a move to the country. Migration to Ardesia was common during this period, but it was unrivaled by Ardesian migration into Vinalia.

The start of the Chyhyryn War in 1925, kickstarted the Vinalian diaspora, as Vinalians found themselves living in Ardesian conquered and later annexed territories. About 1 million Vinalians resided inside the newly conquered Ardesian territories, with some 300,000 having fled the country in 1930. Although the number declined following the re-annexation of the conquered territories in 1935. The start of the First Vinalian Civil war in 1930, led to thousands of Vinalians fleeing the country, mainly to Soravia and Chistovodia. The Vinalian Struggle would see the greatest extent of the Vinalian diaspora. The diaspora and location depended on which of the Vinalia's the migrant came from, migrants from the North settled in other Socialist countries such as Chistovodia, Kirenia, Dezevau, Champania, Irvadistan, and Lavana. While Southern migrants settled in Ardesia, Soravia, Gaullica, Etruria, Werania, and Paretia.

The Vinalian diaspora was prominent primarily in Euclea, do to its number of influential figures including writers, artists, actors, and musicians. Including Artem Macheshich, Anatolij Tapio, Olina Myroslavivna, Ostap Ochiuriushka, Yosyp Tychinka, Zlatan Kravchenko (Soravia). Alla Havrylyuk, Daria Briukho, Ikal Peruski, Nazar Leont, Vikky Ochiuriushka, (Gaullica). Bedche Malyshev, Soini Zhenam, Valentyn Kudriavtsov (Etruria). Ordy Ochiuriushka, Tadeusz Okhremovich (Werania). Kornel Shemiatov, Vasil Suominen, Yuriy Belebelov (Paretia). Halina Alupin, Lera Igalin (Caldia).

The Vinalian diaspora reached its highest number in the 1970's, when economic conditions in both Vinalias were hard, and the threat of war and revolution existed. Loosening of Northern immigration laws led to 2.6 million Vinalians settling abroad between 1978 and 1981 when restrictions were put back in place. Indigenous immigration in South Vinalia was calculated to have reached 500,000 people. In 1979 8.1 million Vinalians lived abroad the highest number in history, that number remained mostly the same until 1987. About a quarter of all Vinalians in the world lived abroad.

Vinalians began returning to Vinalia during the 1990's as peace, and economic prosperity existed between both Vinalias. Vinalian Reunification in 1994 led to the establishment and easement of repatriation for Vinalians living abroad. Close to two million Vinalians returned during the 1990's, with the diaspora reaching a low of 4.9 million in 2003. Although this has been correlated more with the deaths of Vinalians living abroad, and dwindling identification in second generation, and 3rd generation Vinalians then the return of Vinalians abroad.

The Vinalian diaspora has not changed in numbers, as a result of well established Vinalian communities in Euclea and the Asterias. Half of the diaspora lives in Chistovodia and Ardesia, two countries closely connected to Vinalia, with Vinalian communities existing prominently in cities with airports flying to Vinalia or within a 3 hour drive to the Vinalian border. Vinalia has made attempts to increase migration to the country, as the diaspora on average is wealthier and more educated than the average Vinalian.

Communities

Ardesia

Vinalians have been living in Ardesia since independence as migration between both sides was common during the colonial period. The Vinalian community in Ardesia greatly expanded during the Chyhyryn War as Ardesia annexed Vinalian territory south of the Chyhyryn river. Following the war, Vinalians migrated south to escape the conflict that embroiled Vinalia. Vinalias tended to settle near the border or the major cities of Porto Sotiri and Rémont. Little Velkarichka in Rémont is one of the most prominent Vinalian neighbourhoods in the world. About 677,562 Vinalians live in the country, about 1.33% of all the population.

Chistovodia

Chistovodia holds the largest and most prominent of the Vinalian diasporas as a result of its cultural and geographic proximity to Vinalia. The Vinalian diaspora in Chistovodia takes its roots from the expulsion and migration of loyalists to Chistovodia following Vinalias independence from that country in 1885.
