The Imperial Crisis (31 March 2016 - 15 October 2017) was a worldwide conflict that lasted from 2016, with the Lorican aggression on Joyonghea, Bethausia, Quenmin and Kyachindwin, the Russite Invasion of Jutland-Gimle, and the Imperial Invasion of West Europa until 2017, following Operation Valkyria, the assassination attempt on Maximillian III that took place in 9 October 2017.
The war involved the world's vast majority of nations with Quenmin leading the major allied nations composing of Bethausia, Joyonghea, Kyachindwin, the United Kingdom, the Erebonian Empire, Gallia-Bruhl, Aurucolia, Dalmasca and Nabradia, the Holy Galbadian Empire and Esthar and Balamb. Pitting them were the combined forces of Imperial nations consisting of the Autocratic East Europan Imperial Alliance, Atlantic Federation, Calvard, Rus, Guadosalam Federation, Inglemia and the Communist nations of Lorica and the Nanja Republic. Supporting them were various rebellious factions across the allied nations.
While many historians at that time expected that the conflict would last for 5 more years, many were shocked at its immediate end with the Allies securing a complete victory. The success of the Battle of Ruscalov in Lorica allowed the Allies to secure a path to the capital city of Bersalliers. The arrival and the fall of Bersalliers to the Allies marked the final turning point in the campaign. The loss of the Lorican capital further raised the doubts of civilians residing in Imperial countries, hence the worldwide Anti-Imperial Protests of 2017 began with the peoples of the Ruzhite Empire, Calvard, and Remiferia taking the streets to call for an end of Imperial Rule. Within a week, the protests reached other Imperial countries. Dubbed the September Velvet Revolutions of 2017, nearly every anti-Imperial resistance movements took arms and charged at their respective capital cities.
The final end to the Imperials came with the assassination of Emperor Maximillian III during Operation Valkyria, which was a simultaneous operation by the Imperial Resistance to take over the Oberstag and arrest the nobility. Following this event, the Imperial governments of different Imperial nations were overthrown with its leaders either arrested or executed. In 13 October 2017, the ruling body of the Council of Imperial States agreed to unconditional surrender. 2 days later, Imperial delegates went to Randgriz to formally sign the Treaty of Randgriz, finally ending both the conflict and the rule of Imperial states, with the former Imperial countries transitioning into a more democratic government.
