Gazi Lumina Airways Limited (GLA), commonly referred to as Gazi Lumina or simply Gazi, is the flag carrier of Jindao, with its headquarters, referred to as the "Dove's Nest", located at Jindao International Airport. The airline operates a fleet of over a hundred passenger aircraft, including several double-decker aircraft, which principally serve long-haul flights to Euclea. Gazi Lumina also serves over a hundred passenger destinations, with its main focus regions in south-western Coius and Euclea. In 2018, Gazi Lumina carried a total of 22 million passengers and 990,000 tons of cargo.
Gazi Lumina was founded by Estmerish businessman John Conway and Jindanese investor Wu Liang in 1951, and officially commenced operations with its inaugural flight from the old Sir George Aldworth airport to Keisi, Senria, on July 19, 1951.
Gazi Lumina is one of the largest airlines in the world, offering flights to most countries. In 2003, a Gazi Lumina airliner became the first flight to make a no-stop long-haul flight from Xiaodong to Verlois, a route now regularly flown by the airline.
Services
Ground handling
In recent times, beginning in 2008, Gazi Lumina have begun to increase their online presence in a bid to increase its customer market. It introduced Gazi Mobile on October 12th, a mobile phone application where passengers and customers can check up-to-date flight times, arrivals, departures, and other news relating to the airline. The airline has also increased its social media presence to attract customers, and have official and regularly updated pages on most widespread social media networking sites.
Due to growing traffic and queues at Jindao International Airport, Gazi Lumina became the first airline to introduce self-check-in kiosks throughout the airport in 2011. The kiosks allow passengers checking in to scan their boarding pass through the machine instead of manually scanning at the gate. The program was hugely successful and saw iterations of it adopted by other airlines. In 2013, self-check-in kiosks were introduced for Gazi Lumina passengers at the airline's hubs abroad in Rongzhuo and Ashcombe. Following up on this, an option to check in via the Gazi Mobile app was introduced in 2016.
Cabin
First class
First class is available on a select range of planes and features 5 seats across the floor of the aircraft, arranged one apiece in mini-rooms. Each room comes with a chair that can be re-adjusted into a single bed, a 17-inch television, personal closet for storage, an assortment of alcoholic samplers (intended to be consumed with the first class complementary meals) and a large horizontal window that can be adjusted for different light intensities.
Business class
Business class is available on most long-haul and medium-hall flights. The seating arrangement is 1-2-1 horizontally across the floor, with two aisles running either side of the plane. Business class seats are usually at the front of the aircraft on single-storey planes and at the back of the top floor on two-storey planes. Business class seats come with 14in personal televisions, extended leg room with an included footrest, complementary dinner cooked by the first-class kitchen (other meals are not included), with small amounts of personal storage to the side (usually enough to fit a suitcase or bag).
When new double-decker aircraft were delivered to Gazi Lumina in 2017, the business class seats on the aircraft were changed slightly, and featured altered seat designs that maximised space for the occupant and allowed some additional personal storage.
Economy class
The newest iteration of Gazi Lumina's economy class was introduced in 2010 and replaced the old economy class which had been fitted on airliners since 1993. The new economy class seats featured longer reclines, including a redesigned seat configuration to minimise intrusion due to reclining. The seat width was increased to 17.2in (44cm) and came with adjustable arm rests and two new USB 2.0 and 3.0 charging ports on the underside of the armrest. New 11.3in touchscreen televisions were also added in the economy class upgrade in 2010, as well as extra undertow storage underneath the passenger's seat. The economy class upgrade was part of a larger plan to modernise Gazi Lumina's long-haul flight seating configuration.
In-flight entertainment
Gazi Lumina has its own in-flight entertainment system called GaziTV. GTV is equipped with personal touchscreen televisions in every seat from economy up to first class. It offers movies from a range of countries, including Estmerish-language, Gaullican-language, Mathran and Xiaodongese movies. GTV also offers a wide range of TV shows, although the languages of these shows are limited to Estmerish and Xiaodongese. A variety of music and online games are also available on board, with cross-passenger gaming being possible on most flights.
Some newspapers and magazines are available on board Gazi Lumina flights too, and the airline's own magazine, Embrasse, comes complimentary with every flight, with new issues being published weekly. Those with visual or hearing difficulties can request Jindao's Jindao Morning Post in Braille or in an audio format through GaziTV.
Catering
Food and beverages come complimentary in all long-haul flights and some short-haul flights. Three meals a day are served by the Gazi Lumina Catering Company (GLCC) at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Meals can range in origin but there are usually options for both Euclean cuisine and traditional Jindanese and Xiaodongese cuisine. Alcoholic beverages are complimentary for business and first-class flyers, and alcohol can be purchased by those flying economy-class. Depending on the origin and destination, different types of cuisines can be on offer, for example, on flights between Jindao and Keisi, sushi is often served for lunch or as a snack, as the flight is short. For flights to Sirand, Mathran cuisine is often served for both lunch and dinner. Examples of this can be found across many Gazi Lumina flights.
Loyalty programs
Gazi Lumina operates a loyalty program called Gazi Miles, which operates at three tiers: silver, gold and platinum.
Gazi Miles
Gazi Miles is divided into three tiers, membership of a tier depends on the passenger's flying history with the airline, the frequency of flights and destinations of flights (i.e. further destinations lead to increased points). Points are used to monitor a passenger's loyalty and eligibility for loyalty program membership, upgrade or downgrade, although passengers may apply for increased membership as they see fit.
Silver
Silver is Gazi Miles' entry tier, and requires a small fee to be paid as well as a set number of miles flown to be able to join. Silver-tier members are granted additional baggage and priority baggage handling, designated check-in counters, entry to Gazi Lumina lounges for a maximum of two hours before flights.
Gold
Gold-tier members have all the benefits of silver-tier members, lounge access four hours before flights, access to airline bars and discounts on business and first class seats on Gazi Lumina flights. Discounts range from 5% to 20% depending on the length and cost of the seat.
Platinum
Platinum-tier is the highest tier of Gazi Miles membership. It comes with all the benefits of silver and gold-tier membership, with the addition of guaranteed business and first-class seats on all Gazi Lumina flights booked a certain time before boarding (depends on flight destination and length) as well a recommendation for another passenger to be upgraded to another membership. Platinum members travelling business or economy are entitled to bring another passenger with them for half price.
Destinations
Gazi Lumina offers a range of flights to a total of 114 destinations in 39 countries, including three hubs in Jindao, Ashcombe and Rongzhuo, as well as one summer seasonal flight to Soanawihi in Mihi Mai Ra.
