Etymology
The term Ichyroa comes from The Land of the Inchyroans, a travel journal written by an unknown trader, published in 1689[1], by the now defunct Joqudy Print Company. The trader had made this name up for unknow reasons, most likely to allow for easier pronounciation in his native language, /placeholder/. [2]
Tãnỏ is the native name for Inchyroa.[3] It originates from the Proto Inchyroan terms for home and beach, *tap (['tap]) and *kwheˇnot (['kʷʰeʔ.not]) [4] respectively. The name was shortened from it's early form *Tapkwheˇnot to Tãnỏ through rapid speech.[5]
