The Eastern Liberals and Democrats (ELAD) is a regional organization of liberal democratic political parties in Anteria's Eastern Hemisphere.[1]
Parties involved in the ELAD agree to a policy stating that they: exist to ensure the freedom and dignity of all people through; establishing political and civil rights, ensuring basic freedoms, the rule of law, democratic government based on free and fair elections with peaceful transition, ensuring religious, gender, and minority rights, fighting corruption, and establishing free-market economies.[2]
Background
The concept of ELAD came from the series of talks held between the Taihago and Kana's Empowered Citizens (KTP), during which the topic of a regional organization that builds upon the vision of liberals and democrats was mentioned.[3] Originally, the Taihago invited Kana and his associates to form the organization, but the question regarding eastern integration was brought up, the Taihago later invited other political entities in the East to join, to which many agreed.[4]
The organization was created on 29 March 2022, in a meeting in Orajioe, Hoterallia.[1] There are five member parties and several independent politicians with observer status. Currently, many democrats in the Eastern Hemisphere are planning to have a relationship with ELAD. ELAD has also opened its membership to like-minded individuals, and regularly engages with non-member political parties it shares the same democratic values.
Activities
On 7 May 2022, ELAD hosted a festival in Peka, Freice.[5] Co-funded by the KTP, ELAD, Taihago, and other affiliates, it included lectures, talks, and other discussions with prominent eastern liberal thinkers.[6] A number of students, primarily from Hoterallia, attended, with Kana Tenqel giving a lecture on Freician politics and Freician libertarianism.
