Lumakia, officially the Republic of Lumakia (Lumak: Mengkâ Lumak [mɛŋˈkʰəː luˈmak̚]), is a country in eastern Thrismari, bordering Inchyroa to the east and the Gulf of Kouma to the south. Lumakia covers an area of 87,519 km2, with an approximate population of 23.2 million. The country mainly has a humid subtropical climate; its capital and largest city is Gôroy, with other major cities being Gôma and Sulang.
Etymology
The name Lumakia derives from the term Lumak, which is the autonym from the Lumak language to refer to the majority ethnic group in Lumakia, which is of unknown origin. The country's native name Mengkâ Lumak could be more literally translated as the Lumak Republic, however the official name in Common uses the genitive Republic of Lumakia.
Colloquially, Lumaks often refer to their country as Dâk Lumak, meaning "Land of the Lumaks" or "Lumak country".
History
Lumakia, along with the other nations in the Kouma Gulf region, has been inhabited since prehistory. In the year 878, King Jangazen of Gôma united the Lumak tribes along the Ketson River and formed the first Lumak state. His successors would go on to consolidate his gains and further expand northward and eastward, eventually conquering the Ketpua River basin. The Kingdom of Gôma lasted for six centuries, during which time King Kiimkânui introduced Buddhism. Facing invasions and civil war, the kingdom shattered into warring states for more than two hundred years until the region was colonized by WIP
