The 1945 Montillan coup d'etat (Spanish: Golpe de Estado de la Montilla de 1945), coloquially known as the Guaitiazo, was an organized coup d'etat orchestrated by Leonardo Murillo's National Renewal Alliance and the Renovationalist Military Directory from the 23 of April to the 26 of April, 1945, overthrowing President Arturo Batista Guillén, ending the Third Republic of Montilla (1898-1945) and initiating the Renovationalist dictatorship (1945-1958).
