Piestujätää is the capital of the Republic of Tujovaan. It is the largest city in the country also giving host to all governmental buildings as well as embassies and consulates. According to the 2023 estimate done by the city council it holds a population of 735,347 inhabitants making it the largest city by population and size. The city lies on the lake of Piestu, hence it's name of Piestu Lake, explaining it's etymology. This area around the lake has been inhabited by several smaller settlements growing larger over time, eventually collectively forming one singular city as it is now, establishing the first Council of Piestujätää in 1650 two years after it's founding. The city was founded in 1648 although not officially established as a city until 1766 in the Declaration of Piestujätää. The city was recognized as the capital city in 1913 taking over the official title from the city of Pohjotäyn

Piestujätää is located in the Veitamaau province. It is the capital of the country but not the capital of the province, the capital of Veitamaau being Keistajärven.
