Emblem of Freice

The Freice National Awards is a system of decorations and medals established to reward Freicians and other nationals for distinguished conduct and other achievements. The system was established in 1998; previously there were no recognised decorations and Freicians were prohibited from receiving foreign awards. Awards are made by the Má’ita on the recommendation of the Representative Council and are announced on the Day of Full Sovereignty (1 February) each year.

Freician national awards are divided into two types: decorations and medals. Decorations are higher-class honours granted for significant achievements and other notable acts. Medals include those awarded for long service, to commemorate important events, or to mark participation in certain activities.
