===Climate===
===Climate===
The Climate of New Gough Island is Tropical to Highland Humid Subtropical Monsoonal with a dry season and a wet season. Though there are considered 3 seasons: Wet season from late December to April, the Cool Dry Season from May through August, and the Hot Dry Season from September to mid-December. During the wet season temperatures are cooler but humid. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are very common. On days when there is no rain it is usually overcast and foggy in the mornings. Tropical Cyclones can occur during the wet season. The most powerful tropical cyclone to hit New Gough Island was Super Tropical Cyclone Wanda on January 5, 1972, which brought 20 in (508 mm) of rainfall in 24 hours and winds reaching 160 mph (257 kmph). The storm caused horrific flooding; the worst damage ever seen in a century from a tropical cyclone. Heavy rain events occur usually 1 to 3 times per year, heavy rain events are thunderstorms that drop more than 4 in (101.6 mm) of rainfall in a single day. The worst rainstorm brought 25 in (635 mm) of rain in 24 hours. on February 14, 1996.
The climate of New Gough Island is largely temperate. With the northern part of the country being humid subtropical and the northern most Parasides Islands being tropical. The majority of the country is temperate with plentiful precipitation. Mild to warm summers to cool to cold winters are common. Heatwaves and Cold waves are common but aren't intense. Snow and wintery precipitation is common in the mountains and highlands during the cooler parts of the year. Temperatures in the temperate zone range from 63 degrees F (17 degrees C) to 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) during the summer to 41 degrees F (5 degrees C) to 59 degrees F (15 degrees C), precipitation ranges from 40 in (1,016 mm) in the Eastern Plains to 200 in (5,080 mm) at Candace Sound on the West Coast.

The cool dry season brings mild to cool temperatures and low humidity. It is usually sunny and cooler with nice breezes. The coldest temperatures recorded happen in this season and cold waves can occur though they usually happen once per year. The coldest temperature ever recorded was 30 degrees F (-1 degrees C) on Mount Blandan on July 4, 1977. A dusting of snow also occurred on summit that day. Cold waves usually last a few days and rebound quickly.
The Western Alps, the Northern Coastal Ranges and the Southern Coastal Ranges see snow from as early as late March to as late as early December. Snowfall can be measured in feet in some places. Snow can occur at sea-level usually once a year. The coldest temperature ever recorded was on Mount Reginia at -21 degrees F (-29 degrees C). The Western Alps receive the most snow out of all the mountain ranges.

The hot dry season is the most hot and humid time of year. Temperatures climb quickly reaching an apex in November. Temperatures can reach 95 degrees F (35 degrees C) or higher which can be considered a heatwave. The highest temperature ever recorded was 104 degrees F (40 degrees C) on November 18, 2020. Heatwaves can last on the low end 3 days to 14 days at the most extreme. Heat index can make it feel very hot and oppressive, the worst heat index was also recorded on November 18, 2020 with a dangerous reading of 122 degrees F (50 degrees C). Overnight temperatures rarely below 70 degrees F (21 degrees C). The highest overnight temperature was 86 degrees F (30 degrees C) on November 20, 2020. Thunderstorms increase in frequency as the wet season draws closer usually at the very end of November.
The Northern most part of the country is humid subtropical, with temperatures ranging from 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) to 84 (29 degrees C) during the summer from 63 degrees F (17 degrees C) to 68 degrees F (20 degrees C) during the winter. Rainfall ranges from 60 in (1,524 mm) to 80 in (2,032 mm). The hottest temperature ever recorded was 104 degrees F (40 degrees C). Heatwaves are common in the area with high humidity.
