Mevarau was born at Sekaapa General Hospital and baptised on 12 May 2005 at Sekaapa Cathedral. He was educated at the Maale Early Years' School and Sekapa High School, also spending one term at the Queen Diana I College in [[Riamo]]. He is currently enrolled as an undergraduate at the Royal University of Nashe, the alma mater of his mother, studying international relations.
