Riccary (Riccard: Rikary [Rick-are-ee], formally Republiek van Rikary) is a country located in Southern Thuadia with territories in the Veridian Islands. It is made up of 11 provinces and borders the nations of Kentalis, Krenya and Bretislavia. In the Veridian Islands, the territory of Riccary consists of one island, the island of Falcao. The Official Language of Riccary is Riccard, with many other recognised languages such as Krenyan and Common.

The five largest cities in Riccary are, in order, Sint-Maellen, Elzenburg, Hallhavre, Wapenburg and Menzel. Sint-Maellen is the country's largest and most populous city as well as the nations joint capital with Hallhavre. This is because, despite Sint-Maellen being the largest city, and the cultural capital, it is not the home to the nations government, with the smaller city of Hallhavre holding the government, due to it being the historic capital and largest city being a part of Riccary since it's foundation. The southern port city of Wapenburg is one of Southern Thuadia's most bustling trade ports, as it connects the Laurentine Gulf.

Riccary means 'Flooded Lands' in the ancient language of the lands, Old Riccard. This name comes from the flooding problems in east and southern Riccary as the lands are extremely low in places, especially around the city of Sint-Maellen where at parts land can be below sea level. The majority of the nation's 19,000,000 citizens live in these regions, with populations in the west being extremely low.

Riccary has been a parliamentary constitutional monarchy with a unitary structure since 1848. The country has a tradition of pillarisation and a long record of social tolerance, having legalised abortion, prostitution and human euthanasia, along with maintaining a liberal drug policy. The death penalty in Riccary was abolished in 1801 in civil law, and the last execution took place in 1811. Riccary allowed women's suffrage in 1904, before becoming the world's first country to legalise same-sex marriage in 1997. They are also historically fairly neutral, not being a part of any current international organisations.

Etymology

"Flooded Lands"

Riccary's name comes from the ancient language of Old Riccard and the word 'Flooded Lands' which translates to Rikarrry. This name is derived from the lowlands areas in southern and eastern Riccary, which have problems with excessive flooding problems.
