Subsequent to the Supreme Court of Ainin ruling in Victor v. Ministry of Justice striking down most recreational drug prohibitions as contrary to the Aininian Charter of Civil Rights in 1997, the Parliament of Ainin has not reintroduced legislation to enact drug bans. Ainin is one of the only countries in Esquarium where recreation drugs are not limited by criminal law. However, most are regulated as "controlled substances" under food inspection legislation.

Luziyca's drug policy is one of the strictest, due to a War on Drugs going on since the late 1980s. It is typically viewed as a criminal issue, with mandatory sentencing for possession being common. In recent years, some regions have legalized marijuana (though heavily regulate it), or decriminalized it, much to the chagrin of the federal government.

1Opium smoking only
Most drugs are illegal under Xiaodongese law which enforces mandatory sentencing if one is caught in possession of illegal drugs. Recreational use is limited to alcohol, caffeine and opium smoking which is seen as a cultural tradition in Xiaodong. Although laws regarding illegal drug use and possession are seen as harsh, enforcement is often weak especially in rural areas.
