History
Geography and Climate
Geographic features
Arzaqa is a relatively flat country; The north is irrigated by lots of rivers and has an immense flood plain called the Isiya flood plain, derived from the name of the river Isiya (Wadi Isiya; وادي عيسية), itself derived from the city of Isiya, in the middle of the plain and crossed by the river. The south is hilly, with the highest located in the southwest and called the Saqir Hills. The coast is also very flat, with some areas of the city of Nazarab located under sea level. The lowest point of Arzaqa is located near the village of Jalu', at 10 meters under sea level in the Isiya flood plain, while the highest is the Saqir hill (Jabal Saqir) at 701 meters above sea level.
Climate
Arzaqa's climate varies depending on the location in the country; The north has a tropical savanna climate, with wet summers and dry winters (Koppen: Aw), while the south is drier and has a hot semi-arid steppe climate (Koppen: BSh). Due to the lack of hills, desertification is a challenge for the country, and sandstorms can occur in the very south of Arzaqa. The variation of climate creates a north-south divide.

Lacrosse
Lacrosse is widely considered to be the most popular sport in Arzaqa as it is played at all levels and the Arzaqan Lacrosse League is the country's largest sports league by viewership. Lacrosse was introduced to Arzaqa in the mid-19th century by merchants. It quickly became popular amongst the upper class and nobility due to the exclusivity of the sport being played mostly in universities. After the civil war lacrosse was losing players and fans to other sports like football due to its association with the nobility but in 1968 the Arzaqan Lacrosse Federation successfully rebranded the sport distancing itself from the nobility and elites and focusing on the younger generations by installing lacrosse programs in schools teaching kids how to play the sport.
