Dwetasia, officially the Kingdom of Dwetasia, is a country in eastern Olivacia, bordered by Antara in the west and the Aestas Sea to the north. Although they do not share a direct border, the country is in close proximity to Khandpa. Dwetasia has a population of approximately 32,244,666 and a land area of 233,657 km^2. The country’s capital and largest city, New Olchester, is the only city in the country with over 1 million inhabitants. Other major cities include Atifi, Esbank, and Tanford.

Prior to colonization by the Riamese Empire in the (1X)th century, the area that encompasses Dwetasia was host to a patchwork of tribal states with unique cultures and traditions. However the region was quickly turned into a for-profit mining colony by the Riamese, who were able to subjugate the warring tribes. It would not be until (192Y) that the colony would enter open rebellion, freeing itself from foreign rule. In the subsequent turmoil, radical right-wing groups maneuvered themselves into positions of power, establishing a new monarchy under Gavrilian mercenary leader Bautista Fajardo. Dwetasia was ruled by his descendants until 2022, after which they were deposed in a coup and replaced by the Lethian House Fentclann.

The exploitation of Dwetasia was facilitated by the country’s vast natural resource wealth. Rare metals such as platinum, chromium, and palladium, as well as more common ores like iron and copper, are found in abundance in Dwetasia, particularly in the north. In other parts of the country, where the terrain is dominated by dense tropical and subtropical rainforests, logging is a major industry. Dwetasia also carries a substantial manufacturing economy, though factories and plants are concentrated around the cities. Modern Dwetasia is culturally and politically divided, with the white, broadly conservative, Nostrian minority having much greater control over politics than the native groups. Natives, contrarily, have turned to various means to counteract this marginalization. Left-wing organizations are not uncommon, and Dwetasia has been faced with numerous far-left insurgencies led by aboriginals. In contrast, there is a strong right-wing movement among many native tribes as well, attempting to harken back to precolonial traditions and ways of life.

Ultimately, power still rests with the minority. The government of Dwetasia, while alluding to promises of reform, remains dictatorial in its nature as a tightly-knit oligarchy. Basic civil liberties such as freedom of speech are cracked down upon, and the regime is widely known to employ secret police forces with extrajudicial authority. Racial and ethnic discrimination, while no longer institutionalized, remains a large part of Dwetasian society, as do the economic interests of the state through massive government-owned conglomerates, running domestic monopolies on everything from lumber to automobiles.
