Stediz I (28-97) was the son of Azara I. He was King of Trellin from 68 AD until his death and was succeeded by his son Stediz II.
According to Meren's Chronicle, the early years of Stediz's reign saw the arrival of Christian missionaries and refugees arriving via Cadenza from about 70 AD. Stediz welcomed them to his kingdom, saying: "As you have fled persecution and hardship, so too have we. As you have crossed wide oceans to find a safe land away from tyrants, so too have we. We therefore welcome you with open arms, our brothers for eternity." Many of the Trellinese converted to Christianity although Stediz himself did not. In contrast to this religious tolerance, the neighbouring Hyseran Empire began its own wave of persecutions against the new arrivals, leading to a century of growing instability to Trellin's north.
