The Nordanian League (NL) is a regional organization as well as the official body for formal inter-parliamentary co-operation among the nations of Nordania. Formed in 1957 after the 1956 Tynic Crisis, and the formation of the Tynic Commission, the Nordanian League facilitates diplomatic maneuvers between the countries of Nordania and serves to correct their grievances with eachother. The Nordanian Assembly within the League consists of 615 members sent proportionally sent equally by each nation, with the method of appointment varying from elections to governmental appointing. The Assembly holds sessions every 4 months as well one extra session per year with a specific theme.

Along with the Nordanian Assembly the 1957 Treaty of Elsbridge laid out the Nordanian Council of Ministers, an intergovernmental forum, was established to complement the Council, as well as several other complimentary organisations spread across Nordanian cities, such as the Nordanian Court located in Mulford, Wosrac. The official working language of the League is Tynic, the official language in Sjealand, as well as a minority or regional language in Jorland and Lothican, Swastria and Eibenland. Furthermore it is a widely taught foreign language, leading to its adoption. In addition Auregan and Teutonic function as working language in certain areas of operation, primarily the Office of Raw Resources.

The league has several cooperation with neighbouring areas as well as international organisations. The Tynic Commission has signed several agreements with the league, and there have been several discussions of the Commission becoming an autonomous sub-office of the league. Furthermore the Nordanian League cooperates with the Esquarian Community on several levels, especially with regards to international Peacekeeping and economic agreements. On the national level, three non-Nordanian nations have been granted observer status, these being Ainin, Nameria and Tuthina.

Among the accomplishments of the Nordanian League are the implementation of free trade, visa-free travel, collective defense, and cooperation in space exploration between member states, though not all states are equally involved in these agreements.

Structure

Assembly

The Nordanian Assembly is the legislature of the Nordanian League. It has the ability to pass resolutions and make decisions for the organization, which may then be implemented by each government through its national legislature.

The Assembly consists of a unicameral body of 615 members, who are elected by open-list proportional representation every four years. It is presided over by a president, who is elected for a two year term by the members of the Assembly and approved by the Council of Ministers. Seats are allocated proportionally by the population of each member state, which comprise the electoral districts. Each nation is entitled to a minimum of one seat in the Assembly.

Council of Ministers

The Nordanian Council of Ministers consists of the heads of government or assigned ministers of the League's member nations. It determines the strategy and political direction for the League and serves a forum for intergovernmental cooperation. The Council is also responsible for selecting the Secretary-General of the League and approving the President of the Assembly. The President of the Council rotates between member states every year, with the head of government or other minister of the relevant nation holding the office during that time.

Secretariat

The Nordanian Secretariat is the primary administrative organ of the Nordanian League, and is responsible for coordinating and carrying out decisions made by the Assembly. It is headed by the Secretary-General, who is selected by the Council of Ministers.
