Brilliania (Basque language: Berilinako, Hungarian language: Beriliország), officially the Federal Republic of Brilliania, (Basque language: Errepublika Federala Berilinakoren, Hungarian language: Berílet szövetségi köztársaság) is a sovereign state in northeastern Cardia, bordered by the Karsk Sea to the north and the nations of Vetonia to the west, Dulebia to the east and Finium to the south. The capital city is Szaranegertu, which is administered as a province, with the largest city being Marina Szantua. The largest sectors of the Brillian economy include information technology, Tertiary sector of the economy and manufacture. Over 30% of its total area are forested, and the nation enjoys a moderate sea climate. For a part of its history, it was a part of Cornicae resulting in major oppression of the native religion Marism.
Brilliania, officially known as the Federal Republic of Brilliania (Hungarian language: Berílet Szövetségi Köztársaság), is a landlocked country sovereign state located in northeast Asura, bordered by Elhazia in the northwest, Krovech in the northeast, Chokashia in the southeast and Lachnow in the south. As of the 2015 census, Brilliania is inhabited by around 24 million citizens. The sole official language in Brilliania is Hungarian language, which with around 21 million speakers is one of the most spoken Uralic languages in the world, and one of the largest non-Indo-European languages spoken in Asura. The largest city in Brilliania is Szentmári, with its capital being the planned city of Szaraneközel; with other major cities including Endrőd, Angyalok and Szentmári.
In the aftermath of the Proclamation of Duress in Cornicae, the Brillian revolutionary government located in Mascylla called for an uprising against the Cornice government, sparking the Askatasuna Movement and resulting in an increase of the controversial morality tax instituted by High King Peter X. The tax increase resulted in large revolts and the foundation of paramilitary forces directly responsible for several high-profile attacks on Cornice authorities in Brilliania, combined with the revolutionary government proclaiming sovereignity over both Brilliania and Iséropűsz.
The nation, which is administered as a federalism president republic with a population of 18,792,090 citizens divided in 6 provinces, mostly consists of the isolated Brillian-speaking Brillian people. Minorities include the Iséropűszans from the southeastern region of Iséropűsz and Romanian people and Romansh people in areas close to the border with Vetonia.
Brilliania is a developed country with a high-income service-based economy. It ranks highly in the Human Development Index. Although recent governments have prioritized the increasement of social security programmes, there is a high level of disparity.

History
The predecessor to the modern-day Brillian state was established in the 13th century by the Grand Diet of King Miklós III, swiftly conquering multiple pagan Petty kingdom. Under the rule of Miklós III, the work of Saint Mári became codified, resulting in a revival of Brillian paganism under the new Marist tradition. A semi-succesful crusade by Alydian forces from the west of Asura resulted in a partial conversion and the loss of parts of the Marist Brillian kingdom which co-existed with Alydian petty kingdoms. A joint diet formed by the Alydian princes resulted in the formation of the Széntláng Kingdom under the Szábó dynasty. Following the Battle of Gyoma in 1580, the Széntláng Kingdom reached its golden age of cultural and political height with its territory being at around 65% of modern Brillian territory. In 1826, the targeted killing of King Arpád VI of the Széntláng Kingdom by operatives paid by the Marist Brilliania resulted in a popular uprising in Brilliania and a civil war which resulted in a reform-minded republic taking power which resulted in the signing of the Republican Unification Contract in 1850, resulting in a binational Brillian state under secular rule for the first time. Tensions between Marists and Alydianists resurfaced in 1888 resulting in a civil war and a disjointed response to the First Great War (Aeia), with both sides supporting the Concordat due to international pressure. A ceasefire in 1903 resulted in the first election in Brillian history, with a Constitutional Convention being called in order to create a constitution. After 8 years without a constitution, the secular fascist Homeland Protection Units performed a swift military coup d'état and imposed an oppressive secular government under the National Order. Democracy was restored in the aftermath of the Neverfading Revolution in 1954, with the Contract of Szaraneközel in 1988 further defusing tensions after the capital city was moved from Szentmári to the planned city of Szaraneközel as a neutral point.
Prehistory
Kingdom (xxx - 1605)
Brilliania is a developed country middle power with a World Bank high-income economy service economy and a high standard of living. Administratively, it is divided into 7 provinces including the capital city of Szaraneközel. Its historical and cultural heritage give it an international presence in art, music, literature, science and technology. It has been a member of the CDN since 1955, along with membership in organisations such as the APHO, AEA and the WECO.
In Cornicae
In 1602, the Kingdom of Cardilia and Bralonia forcefully executed Prince Ilurdo and swiftly managed to conquer the region.
Brillian Salvationism
Since the start of repression against the longstanding Marist tradition, most Marists have attempted resettlement in the heritage nation of their religion.
In 1904, under leadership of Innigo Alveri, the concept of Brillian Salvationism was codified and included the struggle and resistance for the total independence of the Brillian state under Marist values. The Cornice royal government strongly disapproved of the development and often used extreme means such as forced exile and pogrom against the nationalists, eventually resulting in widespread resentment by the Brillian populace. A protest in 1911 culminated in the failed Rebellion of xxx, which resulted in a massacre.

First Constitution and the National Order
Etymology
The political instability and rampant corruption within the Brillian interim government were fertile grounds for increased political and social tensions amongst the local elite, leading to several controversial events including the Insurrection of Marina Szantua, and two Coup d'état in 1946 and 1947. In the fractured Constituent Assembly which was elected in 1944, party infighting and defections became large issues with mass defections from parties to the newly formed National Order being commonplace. Degenerated conditions after continued infighting within the assembly resulted in the 9 January Coup organised by the Homeland Protection Front (Aberria Babesteko Frontea), which in turn resulted in the creation of the radical anti-Iséropűszan and anti-Ditanist National Order.
The name Brilliania is an exonym of an uncertain thirteenth-century origin most likely derived from the name of early Marist priest Saint Beri, being reloaned from an unknown foreign source. Although authors from Brilliania denonymated themselves until the fifteenth century as máncs, modern Brillian uses the reloaned term berilia instead.

Under the governments fully in hands of the National Order, settlements in Iséropűsz were highly subsidised along with initiatives for the mass replacement and expellation of Iséropűszan inhabitants. The authoritarian and ultraconservative National Order collapsed in 1966 after mass party infighting, opening the opportunity for a peaceful coup d'état by anti-authoritarian sectors of the Brillian Army.
The antiquated domestic term máncs originated as a term referring to a male who took part in a pagan ritual assembly, reconstructed as being originated from Proto-Finno-Ugric *mäńć (man, person). The current term berilia originated as a term referring to Marist soldiers active during the Alydian crusades in Brilliania, who followed the religious teachings of priest Beri and actively fought against crusaders, causing the crusaders to refer to all who fought against them during the Brillian crusade as followers of Beri, despite Beri and his followers being a relatively small grouping.

Political and economic weakness were fertile grounds for socio-political conflict, combined with major influence and pressure from religious blocks within the government of the Second Brillian Republic. The Brillian response to the Great War, despite it being limited and dependent on seperate responses, caused major harm to the economy.
On June 13 1910,
Neverfading Revolution and the Contract of Szaraneközel
The government resisted any form of internationalisation and developed Brilliania into an isolationalism state, until June 1955 when the bloodless Neverfading Revolution (also known as the Amaranth Revolution) resulted in the restoration of democracy culminating with the passing of the Instrument of Democratic Renewal by dissident members of the National Order in the National Assembly. The Instrument, together with the Gyors Forradalmi Pálya (GyFP, Swift Revolutionary Course), was characterised by the development of ideological tensions in both religious and ideological spheres, which were united by the Neverfading Revolution but quickly fell into discord regarding the means to implement the Swift Revolutionary Course. During the period of the GyFP, the first ever fully democratic election in Brillian history was held. Prior to the GyFP being ended in 1959, Brilliania was ruled by a technocracy government, including the period after the convention and election of the Constitutional Assembly.
The political climate after the Neverfading Revolution was volatile, with the growth of counter-culture movemnts such as the Szentmári Scene being combined with ideological radicalisation. In 1961, moderate Marism movements co-existed with the radical Fire Movement (Tűzmozgalom), which emerged as a major radical organisation supporting a 'new crusade' by Alydian states against the Marist population. However, it did not get the support of nearly all Alydian clergy and became a pariah in the National Assembly by being put under a Cordon_sanitaire#National_politics. The vote was widely controversial within the party and resulted in the formation of an identically named paramilitary organisation in 1981 which was responsible for at least 9 different attacks on MPs and 25 attacks on civilians. In 1985, the Fire Movement signed the Contract of Szaraneközel, resulting in the capital city of Brilliania being moved to the planned city of Szaraneközel under the condition of total disarnment and monetary compensation for victims. In the period after the Contract of Szaraneközel, the city of Szaraneközel was quickly developed into the new capital city of Brilliania by means of controlled building development and massive governmental input. Parts of the development were marred by massive corruption, with multiple acquaintances of president Tibor Kásler gaining major contrats for several vital parts of the town.

In 1998, President Ábel Farkas of the Brillian Conservative Party replaced fellow party member Tibor Kásler as the President in presidential elections. His opponent Viktor Kassai challenged the results to the Constitutional Court and produced video evidence of ballot stuffing, catalyzing the start of protests held by his supporters. Rallies held by Kassai supporters were regularly attacked by pro-government forces, culminating in the death of five protesters by means of police violence. When Viktor Kassai's son András leaked documents detailing corruption within the development of Szaraneközel, he was promptly poisoned with ricin by means of a small pellet shot into his leg, although he survived the incident.

On New Years Day 2000, a massive protest with an estimated attendance of over 1,5 million was held in Szentmári, demanding the dissolution of parliament, reforming the election method for presidential elections and the sentencing of Farkas for being complicit in corruption. Farkas' coalition was fragile and relied on the Centre Party to prevent the acceptance of a motion of no confidence. The Centre Party voted in favour of the Presidential Impeachment Emergency Bill tabled by the Democratic Force party, sparking a constitutional crisis as Farkas signed a decree for snap elections five minutes prior to impeachment without any notification to the parliament.

The crisis was the direct cause for an even larger protest in March, with a turnout of nearly 2,5 million close to Farkas' residence in Szaraneközel. The emerging internet was a major factor in organising the protest, with the protest being referred to in international media as the first ever internet-originated protest. The police resorted to harsh measutres including tear gas, causing an escalation of violence. A police officer was directly caught using his service weapon to shoot at protestors, resulting in the death of a 17-year old protestor and wounding 29 others. The Gendarmerie sided with the protesters, resulting in pressure ramping up. On 3 April 2000, Ábel Farkas resigned three weeks after starting a constitutional crisis. Parliamentary elections were held afterwards as decreed by Farkas, resulting in the victory of the opposition Labour Party under leadership of Viktor Kassai, propelling him into the position of Prime Minister and interim president. The legislature functioned as a de facto constitutional assembly, with the Labour Party and its allies having the seven-tenths majority in order to amend the constitution and calling a constitutional referendum.

The trials of Ábel Farkas and his predecessor Tibor Kásler were held between 15 and 20 January 2001, with Farkas being sentenced to a sentence of ten years for corruption and embezzlement while Tibor Kásler was acquittal after being diagnosed with cancer.

Post-2000
Brilliania started the transition to its third constitution in 2002, after the approval of the new Constitution of the Republic by means of a constitutional referendum. The Third Constitution introduced points which were widespread in other nations but not yet implemented in Brilliania, including the right to divorce and the decriminalization of homosexual activities, while also abandoning its policy of relative neutrality in favour of increased international co-operation with states in Asura. Another major instrument of reform was the Charter of the Republic, which introduced provisions for autonomisation of the state and ended the unitary state model in Brilliania in favour of federal state. A third charter, the Economic Instrument of Reform, resulted in the revitalisation of the Brillian economy by ending the dirigisme. With the removal of governmental control of the economy, the economy initially suffered from severe recessions which were mostly corrected by economic shock therapy.
The 2002 legislative election, held to elect a 188-member parliament (increased from 150), was a realigning election with Viktor Kassai's Towards Victory party recieving an absolute majority with 108 of 188 seats, while the incumbent Our Home is Brilliania party recieved 30. Kassai implemented popular measures and became a widely respected figure in Brillian politics, forming three governing coalitions in a row until his leave from politics in 2010. András Kassai was elected President in 2013, but lost re-election in 2019.
Between 2019 and 2020, Brilliania was embroiled in a political conflict after the failure of negotiations after six months of formation talks.

Republic under the Second Constitution
Millenium Revolution
In 1999, massive protests were sparked after an incident in southern Martirien Herria involving the death of 16-year old student Marin Juhász during anti-governmental protests. In the upheaval caused by the incident, the governing National Appeal lost most of its popularity and was disgraced. The protestors demanded the resignation of the entire Ecsebarrea II Cabinet and the decreasal of the size of Ercainca. After several months of intensive protests, Ecsebarrea dissolved his government and resigned, calling for new elections which were won by the Marist Union in a landslide election. The Marist Union, together with all remaining parties except the National Appeal, nominated the technocracy independent politician Ilun Leszaon as Prime Minister. The Leszaon Cabinet was formed for the sole reason of forming a constitutional drafting committee, resulting in a constitutional referendum in 2002.
Republic under the Third Constitution
Brilliania started the transition to its third constitution in 2002, after the approval of the new Constitution of the Republic by a constitutional referendum. The Third Constitution introduced points which were widespread in other nations but not yet implemented in Brilliania, including the right to divorce and the decriminalization of homosexuality, while also abandoning its policy of relative neutrality in favour of increased international co-operation with states in Hallania and Cardia.
Another major instrument of reform was the Charter of the Republic, which introduced provisions for autonomisation of the state and ended the unitary state model in Brilliania in favour of federalism.
A third charter, the Economic Instrument of Reform, resulted in the revitalisation of the Brillian economy by ending state control of the economy. With the removal of governmental control of the economy, the economy initially suffered from severe recessions. The privatisation of the postal service, amongst others, resulted in an internal coup within the Marist Union, causing its leader Sabin-Heren Incsaurpe to take over as Prime Minister. Since then, the republic has enjoyed political liberties and a healthy political culture which is marked by the commonality of inter-party co-operation.

The Republic of Brilliania is administered as a federal presidential republic governed by the framework laws defined in the Third Constitution of the Republic supplemented with the Book of Administrative Law, with the National Assembly serving as national representation. Amendments to either the Constitution or the Book of Administrative Law must be approved by 60% of lawmakers and by a majority of the Brillian populace in an amendemental referendum.
200 members of the National Assembly, the supreme lawmaking authority, are elected every 4 years using party-list proportional representation in a single national list.
The highest role in Brillian politics is the Lehendakari, which is elected directly by the electorate using the two-round system. The current Lehendakari is Endrike Karagori, representing the Marist Union. He was inaugurated on 1 February 2019, after being elected on 26 January 2019.

Parliament
Brilliania has multiple political party who compete against eachother in elections on the national, provincial and municipal level. In order to facilitate the creation of a government, inter-party co-operation is required, which must reflect the composition of the Brillian population by including at least one party of each major religious group. Therefore, multiple parties with similar bases and different religions often compete against eachother on the legislative level. In recent years inter-religious co-operation has made the traditional party system more volatile, with Marist parties often allying with their Alydian counterparts on the regional and nationallevel, reflecting an increased tendency towards secularism and progressive social attitudes in younger generations causing an end to the traditional societal pillarisation.
The National Assembly is the unicameral parliament of Brilliania. It is responsible for creating law proposals, together with the Lehendakari and the ministers. As the supreme lawmaking authority of the Republic, it is also responsible for the supply of confidence to ministers and for the debate on law proposals. Since the Millenium Revolution in 2000, Brilliania is a liberal democracy state. The Bacar gathers for four days in the week, with additional sessions possible if called by a minister or the Lehendakari.
Because of the usage of party-list proportional representation for elections, an absolute majority has not occurred since the introduction of the current constitution, and the possibility for a single-party absolute majority has been constitutionally made impossible since 2019. Therefore, the government is always composed of a coalition government.

As of the 2020 Brillian legislative election, the governing coalition on the federal level consists of a minority government of the centre-right Mostantól and the centrist Pirate Party, relying on confidence and supply from the left-wing Together We Can (Brilliania)Együtt.
Since 2005, the parliamentary rules have included provisions for a weekly question time for the Lehendakari.

Parties
Administrative divisions
The Brillian political system is marked by the prominence of Marist political parties, including Marist Union on the left and United Hicak Marism on the right. The most recent election was held in December 2019, which was called after Lehendakari Endrike Karagori defected from Elkarrekin Egységben to the Marist Union. It resulted in an increased plurality for the Marist Union, which won 69 seats. The election was the sixth since the introduction of the current constitution, and the first snap election. The current political landscape has no dominant party; major parties include the Marist Union, Elkarrekin Egységben, Forward, the Pirate Party and United Hicak Marism.
As a federal state, the Brillian state consists of several provinces (megye), which enjoy a degree of autonomy. Each state is entitled to the creation its own provincial laws which are codified by regional parliaments. The provinces are further divided into districts (kerület), of which there are 196. The provinces are responsible for most services, including housing, taxation, education, social services and healthcare.

Each province is represented on the federal level by a Presidential Commissioner, which is either elected by the members of the provincial legislature or in a direct election.

The National Defence is the standing army of Brilliania, which was established in 1899 as the official paramilitary wing of the National Resistance Council of Brilliania. With the independence of Brilliania in 1943, the National Defence was transformed into a conscription-based army with a 1-year service under the authority of the Ministry of Defence. The National Defence is directly responsible for the guarding of Brillian territories and with co-operating nations if necessary.
The National Defence is composed of four seperate branches:
* National Sea Defence (Icasaren Defenca Naszionala)
* National Land Defence (Lurraren Defenca Naszionala)
* National Air Defence (Zeruren Defence Naszionala)
* National Jendarme (Jendarme Naszionala), which supervises Ercainca duty, functions as antiterrorism unit and supplies high-risk SWAT missions.
Currently, a 6-month conscription service is enforced with civil service allowed as an alternative. For most sections of the army, there is no distiction between men and women in service and entry levels are similar. Notable exceptions in which women are not allowed to join include the Jendarme and the Orthodox Land Defence Brigade. As of 2018, the National Defence consists of 80,500 active soldiers, with 322,900 in reserve. Since 2014, a federal Ministry of Veteran Affairs operates for the services provided to veterans, with notable officeholders including Yuli Verria and Mateo Hormaecse.
The total fertility rate in Brilliania is one of the highest in Asura, with an average of 2.9 children born per woman. The high TFR can be attributed to social expections as well as a generally high quality of neonatal care. The average age is 26.9, which is one of the lowest in Asura. Male inhabitants have an average life expectancy of 73.8 years, while female inhabitants have a life expectancy of 76.9 years.
Brilliania is considered a relatively homogenous nation, with the most major groups being the Brillians and the Iparinans. Other minorites include xxx, xxx and xxx.

The Federal Bureau of Information and Statistics is responsible for the operation of a national census every 10 years. According to the last census, held in 2018, the populace of Brilliania consists of 18,792,090 people. The population growth is positive, with an increase of 5.3% noted compared to the census in 2008. The average total fertility rate is 2.65, which is one of the highest in Cardia and above the replacement rate, thereby explaining the high rate of population increasal. The Brillian government is actively pursuing an encouragement campaign for young parents: which recieve a governmental care package, maternity and paternity leave, and tax breaks for parents of 4 or more children.

The 2018 census noted that the ethnic composition of Brilliania consisted of 65.8% Brillians, 24.3% Iparinans, 3.4% Rodenians, 3.3% Iverdorians, 1.2% Dulebian and 1.0% "other foreign"; 1% of respondents refused to answer.

Education
Education
Nearly all forms of pre-university education in Brilliania is funded on the district and regional levels. Privately operated schools were commonplace until the 90's, although as of late 2019 only 70 privately operated schools operate in Brilliania. Most schools are operated by religious organizations or local government. School books are generally developed by private companies, which are subject to inspection by the Ministry of Education, and the costs are paid by the school.
Healthcare
Brilliania has a developed Universal health care system of healthcare payment, which is based off Universal health care#Social health insurance. 100% of the population is covered by universal healthcare, which is subsidised by the state for poverty, Disability, pensioner and unemployed.
Despite preschool not being mandatory, 97% of children aged 3 to 6 attend it. School is mandatory until the age of 19, and consists of three levels. Primary school is generally divided in classes 1 to 5, with 5th year students being mandated to take an aptitude exam. The results of the aptitude exam, together with input from parents, relatives and teachers, are of major significance as it decides the type of secondary education a student is assigned to.

Music
The Brillian musical scene has varied over the years, with multiple traditions and styles being prevalent. The classic music scene in the late 19th and early 20th century was blooming and consisted of folk epics and classical music, which was surpressed under Cornice rulership.
Since the 1950's, the genre of Levenslied has become a major section of the Brillian music scene. Bizicua kantua consists of songs with simple melody and structures, which are marked by the usage of guitars and accordeons, emotional themes such as the death of relatives and loneliness. Saroi Musaurieta and his son Tirteo are widely regarded to be the major artists in the pioneering of modern-day bizicua kantua, with Saroi pioneering the culture around bizicua kantua. The songs are still widely known to most Brillian citizens, with several of them gaining cult status. Despite Saroi's death in 2007 caused by pancreatic cancer, the popularity of the genre has actually increased and Tirteo Musaurieta, his son, is still widely active in the genre. The funeral of Saroi Musaurieta in 2007 was officially declared as a day of mourning, with the live broadcast being the most watched television event in Brilliania. Because of excessive attendance, a stampede occurred after the funeral resulting in 19 deaths.

The alternative and popular music scene started in 1963 after the founding of the band Bonba, which mixed domestic music with foreign influences such as ska. Rock bands such as Indarre, Erioca, Hertzaina and Csimista were widely popular in the 80's, with some of the bands still being active to this day. Heavy metal music bands such as AMB, Gonoszsága, REKIN and Gorrotoak are widely regarded within and out of Brilliania, with the annual Fallen Angel Festival in Aingerak drawing crowds of 75,000 fans and several internationally regarded metal bands to the country. Experimental music is uncommon, although it has seem a recent increase in popularity thanks to the jazz singer Salbacaile Cobiral.

Brillian cuisine is influenced by its history and geography, especially the historical releations with xxx. In the north, fish dishes are widespread, while in the south meat is preferred. Traditional dishes are often marked by their simplicity, with most dishes consisting of less than 5 ingredients.
In Iparina, the XXX influence is most visibly in the prominence of paprika. Most dishes from Iparina are stewed, with beef being the most popular meat used. Nationwide-renowned Brillian dishes are erreta and kullas. A common occurrence in Brilliania are the so-called txoko, which are closed gastronomical societies for men. Some csokos double speakeasies. Most csokos have their own constitutions featuring rules the members must agree to. They are very common institutions. Most csokos are very conservative - traditional clothing is required and women are banned from entering because cooking is often regarded as a male activity in Brilliania. In recent years the so-called csoko soziala, or social csoko, have been started in most major cities. Social csokos allow women, and have liberal dress codes. Csokos are also a common place for political debates.

Brilliania, officially known as the Federal Republic of Brilliania (Brillian: Berílet Szövetségi Köztársaság), is a landlocked sovereign state located in northeast Asura, bordered by Elhazia in the northwest, Krovech in the northeast, Chokashia in the southeast and Lachnow in the south. As of the 2015 census, Brilliania is inhabited by around 24 million citizens. The sole official language in Brilliania is Brillian, which with around 21 million speakers is one of the most spoken Kalic languages in the world, and one of the largest non-Cataisuran languages spoken in Asura. The largest city in Brilliania is Szentmári, with its capital being the planned city of Szaraneközel; with other major cities including Endrőd, Angyalok and Szentmári.

The predecessor to the modern-day Brillian state was established in the 13th century by the Grand Diet of King Miklós III, swiftly conquering multiple pagan petty kingdoms. Tensions between Marists and Alydianists resurfaced in 1888 resulting in a civil war and a disjointed response to the Great War, with both sides supporting the Concordat due to international pressure.

Brilliania is a developed middle power with a high-income service economy and a high standard of living. Administratively, it is divided into 7 provinces including the capital city of Szaraneközel. Its historical and cultural heritage give it an international presence in art, music, literature, science and technology. It has been a member of the CDN since 1955, along with membership in organisations such as the APHO, AEA and the WECO.

Etymology

The name Brilliania is an exonym of an uncertain thirteenth-century origin most likely derived from the name of early Marist priest Saint Beri, being reloaned from an unknown foreign source. Although authors from Brilliania denonymated themselves until the fifteenth century as máncs, modern Brillian uses the reloaned term berilia instead.

The government resisted any form of internationalisation and developed Brilliania into an isolated state, until June 1955 when the bloodless Neverfading Revolution (also known as the Amaranth Revolution) resulted in the restoration of democracy culminating with the passing of the Instrument of Democratic Renewal by dissident members of the National Order in the National Assembly. Prior to the GyFP being ended in 1959, Brilliania was ruled by a technocratic government, including the period after the convention and election of the Constitutional Assembly. However, it did not get the support of nearly all Alydian clergy and became a pariah in the National Assembly by being put under a cordon sanitaire.

Millenium Revolution

Ábel Farkas in 2001 prior to his trial.

Protests in Szaraneközel in March 2000.

The trials of Ábel Farkas and his predecessor Tibor Kásler were held between 15 and 20 January 2001, with Farkas being sentenced to a sentence of ten years for corruption and embezzlement while Tibor Kásler was acquitted after being diagnosed with cancer.

Another major instrument of reform was the Charter of the Republic, which introduced provisions for autonomisation of the state and ended the unitary state model in Brilliania in favour of federalism. A third charter, the Economic Instrument of Reform, resulted in the revitalisation of the Brillian economy by ending the dirigist economic policy.

Politics and Government

The Federation Building in Szaraneközel, opened in 2006, houses the National Assembly and its committees.

The Republic of Brilliania is administered as a federal semi-presidential republic governed by the framework laws defined in the Third Constitution of the Republic supplemented with the Book of Administrative Law. Amendments to either the Constitution or the Book of Administrative Law must be approved by 70% of lawmakers and by a majority of the Brillian populace in an amendemental referendum.

Politics

National Assembly

The National Assembly is the unicameral legislature, which is responsible for the creation of laws, formation of a government, and regular co-operation with high figures such as ministers and the President. Its 188 members elected on basis of proportional representation using the Sainte-Laguë method for three-year terms. Brilliania has a multi-party system. The sole time in a fully democratic election in which a party recieved an absolute majority occurred in 2002, when Vitkro Kassai's Labour Party won 108 of 188 seats.

Brilliania has multiple political parties who compete against eachother in elections on the national, provincial and municipal level.

As of the 2020 Brillian legislative election, the governing coalition on the federal level consists of a minority government of the centre-right Mostantól and the centrist Pirate Party, relying on confidence and supply from the left-wing Together We Can (Brilliania)Együtt.

Administrative divisions

As a federal state, the Brillian state consists of several provinces (megye), which enjoy a degree of autonomy. Each state is entitled to the creation its own provincial laws which are codified by regional parliaments. The provinces are further divided into districts (kerület), of which there are 196. The provinces are responsible for most services, including housing, taxation, education, social services and healthcare. Each province is represented on the federal level by a Presidential Commissioner, which is either elected by the members of the provincial legislature or in a direct election.

Law and judicial system

The judicial system in Brilliania is based off civil law divided between the supreme authority of the Kuria, combined with district and provincial courts. The Kuria is based in Szaranegertu.
Law enforcement in Brilliania is operated by the Rendőrség, which carries out all major police duties such as investigation, patrol activity, traffic policing and border control. The Rendőrség is subordinate to the Ministry of Domestic Security. The elite force of the Rendőrség, the semi-militarized Gendarmerie, is used for riot control and critical incidents including terrorism and hostage situations.

Military

Foreign relations

Brillian foreign relations and diplomacy have been marked by a form of neutrality. After the Neverfading Revolution, Brilliania swiftly joined international organisations such as the Commonwealth of Democratic Nations. After the Millenium Revolution, Brilliania proceeded to hold a more internationalist foreign stance and enhance its international standing. The Brillian economy is in part dependent on international trade, and its foreign policy is marked by the core tenet of inter-Asuran co-operation.

Economy

Brilliania is a high-income mixed economy, with an export-oriented social market economy, marked by its high reliance on foreign trade and a developed welfare state.
