List of universities (Aeia)

As of 2019, there are approximately 19,000 universities in Aeia. Although institutes of higher education that grant degrees have existed in Catai and Majula since the 7th century, the oldest university still in existence is University of Mydroll, founded in 1101. Prior to the 19th century, most modern universities were situated in Asura, but the number of foundings increased sharply in Vestrim and Rennekka during the course of the century. In present times, Catai hosts the highest number of insitutions.

The non-governmental organization Aeian Education (AE) has maintained a ranking of universities since 1964. The Aeian Education List of Universities (AELU) ranks universities by an index that considers academic performance by students, post-degree employability, research output, article impact and number of article citations. The listing is completed independent of the number of disciplines that the institution offers. Although WECO questions the methodology behind the rankings, including tendencies to overrepresent Asuran universities, the organization also appreciates the establishment of consensus that it does bring. Aeian Education grants requests by universities to be excluded from the list (given the ranking xx), and some are therefore only listed by country, founding date and student number. Certain universities are illegible for a ranking; they are recognized by their national government but fail the AE accreditation inspection, and can be listed but not ranked. In addition to AELU, AE gives insitutions internationally recognized accreditations using its requirements for university recognition and maintains student exchange programs.

Although its founding date is regarded as 1574, historically the University draws its origins from the University of Lotrič established in 1227 as a break-off from the University of Mydroll. The University was moved to the town of Roixs through royal patronage in 1574. The University was very nearly closed following the Midrasian civil war due to its connection with the monarchy. Ultimately the decision was taken to retain the university in its entirety, including its original name in spite of the city of Roixs being renamed Littoria. Mydroll and Roixs, known across the world by their portmanteau Mydroixs are renowned for their rigorous and competitive application process. Whilst the university is regarded as a private institution, along with its counterpart in Mydroll, the university holds a charter with the government to maintain fee levels at Đ5,000 per academic year.
